    "DId not work"

    April 20, 2013  |   By mskelbel

    Version: Winclone 3.7

    Pros

    Don't have any.

    Cons

Paid too much for something that didn't work for me.

    Summary

I was trying to install a bigger hard drive into my MBP. I was wanting to go to a 1TB hybrid drive from a 500GB drive. The MAC OS partition copied flawlessly with Carbon Copy to the 1TB drive. The Bootcamp side has been nothing but problems. I tried to go with the generic boot file as suggested and deleting what was there, and I tried keeping the boot file. I tried keeping the cache file or deleting it. Nothing I tried would allow the bootcamp drive to boot. I would get a cannot boot black screen or a BSOD. My solution was to remove the optical drive and place the original drive with the bootcamp partition there in a drive doubler bracket. In that original drive, I removed the first Mac OS partition and created a new windows file partition to increase the size of space available for Windows. I now have 1.5TB of space in my MPB and an external optical drive. I'm happy with the setup I have now, but I wasn't happy that I couldn't go with my original plan and clone the bootcamp partition.

    "Works Great!"

    October 20, 2012  |   By madmacs2

    Version: Winclone 3.5

    Pros

    Saves hours or more

    Cons

    None so far

    Summary

Just had my hard drive replaced as part of the iMac drive replacement program. Winclone was awesome because I only have an upgrade version of Win7. On Mountain Lion, you can't install XP or an upgrade Win7. I would have been forced to buy Win8 if I wished to keep Boot Camp.

    "It works as advertised"

    September 10, 2012  |   By rstw

    Version: Winclone 3.4

    Pros

    Easy bootcamp imaging and restore

    Cons

    I didn't find any

    Summary

I used WinClone to transfer a Windows Bootcamp partition from my old hard drive to a new one. It works perfectly for this and was about as fast as can be expected when dealing with a 50GB partition. Too bad MacOS doesn't support this out of the box, but WinClone is worth the purchase.

    "Perfect solution"

    June 16, 2012  |   By guitarjoa

    Version: Winclone 3.3

    Pros

    Fast cloning
    Fast restoring

    Cons

No incremental updates (but there are other apps for that)

    Summary

    This program is great!
I just installed a fresh copy op Windows 7 on my bootcamp partition. It took me about three and a half hours because of the hundreds of updates and a lot of reboots...
    Cloned everything with Winclone.
Restoring took only 20 minutes (25 GB Win 7 64bit) and worked flawlessly.

So if you like to change Bootcamp partition size or want to install Windows 7 in just 20 minutes, this is the app!

"False advertising, doesn't work with Leopard"

    January 1, 2012  |   By Cilarie

    Version: Winclone 2.3.3

    Pros

Seems to do what I'd like to do: back up my Windows partition to my Mac partition, so that Time Machine will store the information for both.

    Cons

When I loaded the program after setting it up as directed, an error message popped up saying that all of the Winclone versions 2.3 and later do not work with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). This is rather disappointing, as it was advertised to be compatible.

    "Works with Lion. Indispensable."

    December 18, 2011  |   By Freddie_the_Mac

    Version: Winclone 2.3.3

    Pros

Simple to use and writes to NAS as well. Must have if you're serious about backing up Boot Camp.

    Cons

    Non. It's also free.

    Summary

Excellent software. And thanks to the developer!

"A simple, reliable, and highly useful program."

    December 10, 2011  |   By Al_Q--2008

    Version: Winclone 2.3.3

    Pros

Small simple, free program that quickly backs up a boot camp partition.

    Cons

It no longer compresses the saved images, so they are nearly twice as big as they used to be. But that's a minor flaw, apparently forced by changes in Apple's libraries.

    Summary

An excellent free program that makes it easy to back up and restore a boot camp partition, and allows you to change the size at restore time (if you follow the instructions). THANKS to the current programmer who fixed the program (abandoned by it original author) after it was broken by recent changes from Apple. He deserves your donations.

    "Many thanks to Brian Wilson"

    December 2, 2011  |   By elireuven

    Version: Winclone 2.3.3

    Pros

Does one important job and does it well.

    Cons

    None that I know of.

    Summary

Many thanks to Brian Wilson for updating the background scripts for Winclone so that this app, functionally unique in the Mac world as far as I know, is once again working under the latest Snow Leopard release.

    "No longer works with OSX"

    November 2, 2011  |   By soyamonger

    Version: Winclone 2.2

    Pros

Nice of CNet to retain this older application for people still using OSX 10.5.

    Cons

Does not work in OSX 10.6.8 (or, presumably, above). Probably won't work with 10.6.x in general. Fails with a bad hdiutil parameter.

    Summary

    Don't use on OS X 10.6.
