"Brought my computer to its knees"

    February 1, 2013  |   By MrRefractor

    I can think of none.

My formerly fast computer ground to a halt upon installing this malware. I believe the AVG toolbar buried in the EULA was the culprit. I spent hours trying to uninstall it. In the end I chose a restore point, which is why I am able to write this email at all.

I had purchased Winsip years ago, and it was a useful utility back then. The current rendition is a virus. I cannot get back the hours I spent ridding my life of this, but you can turn back before it is too late.

    Hello MrRefractor,

I'm sorry to read about your issue with AVG. The offer for AVG is presented in the second pane of our trial version installation process. At that point, you are invited to also install AVG. It does not appear on our paid-for version.

    Kind regards,
