"Pros and cons..."
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
Fast and reliable
Cons
It sticks on .zip file format...
C'm on, there are better formats that worth to be fully supported!

"Stopped upgrading at version 9.0"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
Excellent, much-copied interface. Quick and easy way to work with ZIP files. The User interface is easier to use than most of the free zip utilities.
Cons
I got tired of having to pay for upgrades. Instead I bought WinRAR, which has free upgrades as also handles ZIP files as well as RAR files.
As for the job manager in WinZip Pro - it would have looked good if I wasn't already using the freeware Cobian Backup.

"have only used it once, to early for full opionion"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
simply to use
Cons
nothing so far
-
"Better but needs more file type and language supports."
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
An interessting thing at license is that you can get back your money in case of some problems. Sounds good, but i wonder in what cases.
Wonder or not? It can handle RAR files as well (unpack).
Nowdays it's uncommon, but i'm quite happy, it has an updated help file.
The tips are sometimes really informative, not just about program functions (fe. tip about encrypting more files).
You can get compression ration and CRC values about files by righ-clicking and properties. The encryption job works quite fast on smaller archives, however, what other programs can unencrypt these files?
I like the job wizard and it's every part. I have used many applications for backup purposes and so, WinZip offers me easy to use and explained (see help) possibilities. Even took care to explain that it's not so secure to store a password in a job file. The split options might come in handy for beginner and novice users.
Cons
Seems WinZip has lost the copyright for WinZip(R) Self-Extractor, hasn't? Check out the setup's Info... button, maybe better to use a version before 2004? If you run it from WinZip, it'll be until 2006. Anyway, you'd need at least version 3.0 for AES256 encrypted zip files.
I'm still not impressed with the third-party Google offers (however, you are able to uncheck the desktop/toolbar).
It'll still offer you the associations for file types which already have with another programs. This makes me a little bit nervous, spending time on this...
Why it can't unpack ACE files?
Now you can only schedulde the update for day or week, joke?
The favourit is too simple, the search should search within sub folders as well. Why there's no Close button and why i use Options... to add/remove directories?
Right click - open with - view or choose extrernal program, then cancel. The result will be an error, while it's only your decission.
It sad "Internet Zone" for I drive's Directory directory.
About check for updates should work or this is a personal experience? Simple ADSL here, no firewall blockings.
I'd like to edit the appendable text part of the new file - by job functions - with custom variables. What a pity, you can't set up time with the job wizard.
Less supported file and languages types than other free versions (7-Zip, IZArc, TUGZip).

"not worth for the money"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
1. simple UI
2. easy to use
3. rar file supported (new in version 11)
4. better encryprion
5. any extension (new in version 11)
Cons
1. heavy and hence slow (even in my 512+256MB laptop)
2. high price..........so my verdict will be..winzip is very gud..but not worth the money for an ordinary home user.

"The good ol' reliable WinZip does it again!"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
Simple to use
-
"Overpriced and behind compared to 7-Zip/IZarc"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
Useful if you wish to fork out the cash... Nice classic user interface.
Cons
I paid for WinZip years ago when I got updates for life... life until Corel. WinZip was great before Corel's parent company got it's hands on it. 7-Zip may not be as pretty , but it is extremely functional and will be offering AES-ZIP encryption soon (it is in beta now). WinZip adds WavPack support, pay for it if you like, but that is free and open source.
Take the money you would have spent on WinZip and donate to the free/open source product 7-Zip.

"It's a ripoff"
Version: WinZip 11
Cons
Compared to what the competition does for free WinZip is vastly overpriced.
It gets better with each version, but it's still lacking features that are more important and those can be found in 3 other programs that come to mind. All are free and one of them is also Open Source.
Personally I'll stick with 7-Zip

"Useful"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
Easy to send several documents
Cons
This is not a "cons", but am using this box as contact. I purchased in September 2003 WinZip 8.1, but have unfortunately lost the product key. Is there a possibility of getting one back ?
Many thanks.

"Think 0$ Alternatives"
Version: WinZip 11
Pros
WinZip's high cost and constant stream of e-mails trying to sell you other products will encourage people to investigate excellent free options such as 7-Zip, now my favorite archive tool.
Cons
I didn't complain when they didn't come through on their lifetime upgrades as many have. I even purchased the upgrade and the maintenance. Now here's the rub, they are asking for more money for version 11 even though I purchase maintenance up front.
