WinZip isn't that bad but I'd rather pay for WinRAR. been using WinRAR for serveral years, never have any problems, good compression, good support for many different formats. WINRAR BEST!!!

Summary
There is NO point in having WinZip anymore because of all the other programs available. 7Zip is one that I have tried and it works great PLUS you can compress in TAR, BZ2, & GZ formats that are oh-so-popular with linux. I like the most because you can decompress a lot of different formats and compress in ZIP and RAR. RAR, btw, I like a lot more than ZIP because it usually compresses smaller by a little bit and its used A LOT more in IRC rooms and torrents. If you just want something that can handle ZIP files, upgrade to Windows XP. It COMES with a ZIP compressor and decompressor. I still recommend WinRAR though.

So i will not pay for a poor software. There are freeware programs that are much better. If i had to pay i would chose Winrar (the best i've tried).

I've been using 8.0 for a very long time and have been VERY VERY happy about it. If you guys can still post for me, I was wondering if 9.0 also has that cool feature where you can continuously use the trial version for life. See, the thing is, if I switch to 9.0 and have to pay, I'll just stick to 8.0 where I don't have to pay. Answers?

Summary
Winzip is the most popular archiving prog out there because of its name, fame and familiarity. There are better progs such as Powerarchiver and WinRAR looks shoddy but is more powerful
