"Doesn't live up to promise"
Version: WinStart Manager 2.5
Pros
Good start manager; easy to select startup programs.
Cons
Boot manager, which is supposed to be this program's strength, is not at all easy to use and there is no way to get instructions. For example, how does it work in conjunction with the programs already listed in Startup?
Summary
It's free so can't complain, but I'm going to be looking for a better boot manager.

"It simple and you should use for what its was made."

"MALWARE ALERT: changes settings, can't be uninstalled"
Version: WinStart Manager 2.2
Pros
malware. installs search engine platform. changes all home pages in firefox and IE. won't uninstall. Not going to name the site cuz they come and get posts removed and say they aren't malware
Cons
Installs itself as a startup process and probably phones home your private information.
Summary
malware. avoid. Should not be offered on download.com. I've trusted stuff from here for years but not any more if this is considered ok software with no viruses or malware.
This was a real pain to remove from my system. The search engine they swap yours out for is terrible. apparently there is an opt out tick mark somewhere on install but I could not find it. Had to delete program and appdata files by hand after uninstalling and reset firefox to defaults. -
"This shouldnt be on CNet"
Version: WinStart Manager 2.2
Pros
I didnt install it because it gave me a choice-accept the end user agreement and the toolbar,or don't.
Cons
This shouldnt be on cnet.If they want to charge for use of the program, thats one thing, but foisting toolbars on people SHOULD be a thing of the past.
Summary
If you dont mind having to accept a toolbar you werent trying to use in the first place, then by all means-use the program.
But most people should not bother. -
"Rotten, invasive - SPAM-like app!"
Version: WinStart Manager 2.2
Pros
It works (so what?)
Cons
An Obnoxious, invasive program: installs a toolbar on Firefox, changes the browser's default search engine to itself, takes the user to its wholly insignificant website for more irrelevant stuff. WHY include this trash on CNET???
Summary
Invasive, SPAM-like programs should *never* be included in the list of "Free" apps!!!

"Messed Up IE and Disabled Wireless Network"
Version: WinStart Manager 2.1
Pros
NADA.! NOTHING! AVOID THIS MESS!
Cons
Most of the time I follow the editor?s suggestions. HUGE mistake. This forces a IE tool-bar if disabled the wireless network became non functional. Even after a un-install The WAN was unable to connect. A system restore ONLY cure for this tragedy.
Summary
Most of the time I follow the editor?s remarks and suggestions. this is one of those times it was a HUGE mistake. This program forces a IE tool-bar. When it is disabled the wireless network became non functional. Even after a un-install The WAN was unable to connect. A system restore was the ONLY cure for this installed tragedy.
Avoid this Software.
No wonder the users are giving such LOW ratings. It does NOT even deserve a rating. This software needs to be pulled OFF of this and any other download site. -
"Simple and fast"
Version: WinStart Manager 1.9
Pros
Big improvement on my system start. (Vista )
Cons
wasn't sure what programs to disable and lost everything for a while until I back- tracked using system restore. Could be disaster if done wrong

"Lots of information, easy to use, but necessary?"
Version: WinStart Manager 1.9
Pros
More coherent and comprehensive presentation of how user configurations vary than other startup management tools.
Cons
If you know what you want to change, you will probably think of MSCONFIG or REGEDIT first. Either of these, while clunkier, are more powerful.
Summary
Probably not something you'll want to run daily or even monthly. However, when you are trying to evaluate a startup problem/discrepancy, this is worth looking at. The best thing that it gives you is specific information about startup entries (who it's from,

"useless poor software"

Pros
it do nothing
Cons
without function
-
"Great little program"
Version: WinStart Manager 1.9
Pros
Does exactly what it's meant to do and very easy to use.
Cons
Nothing, yet.
Summary
I don't know why the other the comments are so negative! Downloaded and installed, no problem. Works like a charm and full of usefull tricks when you dig deeper into the program. A winner for me, plus free. There is also Quick Startup (free) but this one seems better and I will keep it for sure.
