"The best Archiver"
There is no equal to WinRAR's Multi-Volumes and it has the option for Recovery Bytes and Volumes on board. It is also possible to drag-and-drop files directly from an archive into another program, for instance an audio-file into VLC player. Both programs have to support such a thing and WinRAR is the only popular archiver that supports this.
Cons are hardly an issue, but for smart *****... only unpacking is open source, for making RAR-archives WinRAR has to be used.
Compared to 7-Zip, FreeArc and NanoZip, compression is not the ultimate best anymore.
The advantages of this Super Archiver still outweigh anything the competition has to offer. WinRAR is user friendly and has optimal flexibility. The RAR-format is better than the Zip-format and it is so widely supported that you will come across it, no matter what.
