Its good for security.
Cons
Its not free. You can find a mixture of free programs that would constitute the components of this program...i.e. HijackThis and MSConfig Cleanup.

The barking sound is amusing.
Is not very RAM heavy.

I really like the startup list feature that lets you take entries off of the startup list, since windows xp, for some reason, dones't have one. Winpatrol has been able to stop processes running that even my windows task manager hasn't been able to. The feature that lets you see what's running on your system, and what gets installed in nice also, though many other programs are starting to incorporate that kind of ability into their programs also, so I sometimes get multiple alerts. I like the fact that you can delete cookies off your comptuer right when winpatrol find them. The little barking alerting sound is a funny touch also.
Cons
I only have the free version, and though it's not a bad thing for someone to get paid for their work, I wish the free version had the R.I.D. ability also. But other then that, it's a sold program that has a lot of useful features.

A good search "file" information program. But you must pay to "seach information"
Cons
There are a software which do the same thing, and it is in "system utility" catalog, as I remember. Because it just provide more detail "file/Program" informations by link to their web database, of course, you must pay for it. Now, a same software do same thing, but in "adware/spyware removal" catalog. Just because this catalog get more download? or most of us will not pay for file information, but may pay for adware/spyware information instead of search them via free search engine ?

i had been trying to stop pop up ads on IE. I downloaded this and within 50 secounds my popups were reduced by 95%. Very simple, no scanning, very fast. Better than Ad-Aware.

WinPatrol is a Great Program! Helps Monitor your pc and does an outstanding job of guarding your pc while using almost no RAM. This program uses a descent heuristic scanning engine and seems to be a top notch program.

WinPatrol is free and does a great job of informing you of of what is running on your pc. Scotty does an outstanding job of guarding your pc and eats very little ram..just a few dog treats. I recommend you try WinPatrol and I give it 5 stars and two thumbs up!
