"I tried to use it. It failed. I uninstalled it."

    November 5, 2012  |   By RedtheTed

    Version: WinMorph 3.01 build 801

    Pros

If it had worked as described, it might have been useful.

    Cons

I tried about three morph programs in a row, and I lost track of why each one that got uninstalled failed. As I recall, this one just crashed when loading images and refused to run.

    Summary

I would like to have back the 30 minutes of my life that I spent trying to make this program work.

"It's Really THAT GOOD...if you know what a polygon is."

    November 30, 2011  |   By matrixation

    Version: WinMorph 3.01 build 801

    Pros

It renders very compatible AVI files. I can understand why people think it's hard to use; that's because they want a quick and easy morphing effect wizard to locate all the index points for them. Here's a little fact about "those" other softwares...they are great...no doubt, BUT they are not as accurate as you may think. "Out of the box" they will not give you the results you see on some really good YouTube videos or movies. No. In fact, to make a seamless transition requires a great deal of accuracy and polygons for true professional results. Now, the paid versions have really good wizards for a fast face trace and, in theory, can save you time if you work for a TV station and need something fast and not that accurate but the same amount of time can be spent doing the tracing by hand. Ultimately, doing the tracing by hand comes out better and you learn "how" morphing works. Once you understand how it works, you'll realize this FREE version is a lot more powerful than you think.

    Cons

Does not have a wizard for the indexing of a face. Again...even the paid versions require a great deal of fine-tuning.

    Summary

What you guys are looking for it that seamless "Terminator" style of morphing, Yes, this can do that but you need to understand how the program works. My only tip to the novice is this: learn to use polygons. If you "encircle" (I'm using that word because to someone that has no clue about geometry, polygons make sound cryptic) areas...like eyebrows, lips, and face below the hairline, you'll find the animation sequences are fluid. I'm not at all discounting paid software at all. The paid versions have many tools that I wish this had but I'm just trying to show that the other reviews may be a little biased due to their over-estimate of what they think morphing softwares can-and-are supposed to be able to do.

"Works Ok if your prepaired to put a lot of work in"

    January 11, 2011  |   By bazinbrum

    Version: WinMorph 3.01 build 801

    Pros

I was looking for an easy way to morph a couple of pictures, which I have no doubt Winmorph can do, however it was not obvious how to create the between steps, despite looking at the supplied example and help screens.

    Cons

Nothing, other then a reasonable tutorial is required to make full use of the software.

"The Best of the free software I could find on CNET"

    February 16, 2010  |   By brettphall

    Version: WinMorph 3.01 build 801

    Pros

This one actually will save to an AVI file to be used in other software.

    Cons

Not as many functions as other free software, but what use is the functionality of other software when you can only save it as a proprietary file.

"Unique, definitely a thing to try."

    January 17, 2010  |   By misquamakus

    Version: WinMorph 3.01 build 801

    Pros

It's small, it's fast, it's free. What else could you possibly want? A person can achieve positively any kind of detailed image transformation with this tool.

    Cons

Is not very intuitive, some of the concepts are hard to get a hang on at first.

"This tool does do what it advertises, and it's FREE."

    April 9, 2008  |   By Sirrobocop

    Version: WinMorph 3.01 build 801

    Pros

I usually use paint and some photo programs to draw 'tween frames for animated GIFs. However, I had a really complicated one that I felt only a morpher could handle, so I tried this program. Eventually, I got almost what I wanted - and I feel with a few more hours in the learning curve, I could get exactly what I want for an effect.

    Cons

I did not give this 5 stars for one reason: The tutorial js hard to refer back to, and documentation is absolutely AWFUL. It took me several different attempts to learn how to relate one frame to the next, and I still am missing some sort of details in that regard. Morphing is NOT an intuitive process; there needs to be a better description of what is going on in the tutorial process as "how morphing works" and a full index of help topics, so you can figure out easier what you're doing wrong.

If you know nothing at all about morphing, you may be unable to figure out how this software works. If you do know a bit about it, watch the tutorial several times and prepare for a lot of trial and error. I suggest starting wtih something simple.
