    "run away"

    March 13, 2004  |

First let me say that I have the version that comes with the “Adaptec Videoh DVD Media Center USB 2.0”. After trying to use the Electronic Program Guide and finding it does not work I asked Adaptec about it and this is what they had to say about InterVideo: “This feature has been changed by the manufacture of the WinDVR 3 software as it used to go out to an online web site for video programs that could be scheduled to watch or record. This feature does not work at all now and now gives only errors. There is no upgrade patch form the software manufacture to get this feature working again.”

If I download the WinDVR3 Trial off the InterVideo website it does not work at all with my hardware. Why would InterVideo hold back hardware support from its paying customers? My guess on this would be that their paying customers are just a joke to them and their real business is extorting money out of their partners like Adaptec to keep the software working for them or some mysterious change will break it.

Why would you want to buy software from a company dedicated to not support new hardware? There are other choices. Search for ‘PVR’ on
