Version: Webroot Spy Sweeper 6.1
"Simple and very efficient anti spyware program"
Pros: Very easy to instal and use and appears to stop my computer from being infected, regular updates to its definitions. Customer support is helpful quick and friendly and greatly improved over the years.
Cons: The only thing I can think of is if it does block a website it doesn't let you know why and it seems impossible to view the site although this has only happened once to me.
Summary: I used this program several years ago and when purchasing my laptop 3 years ago installed Spy Sweeper and Norton Internet Security. I currently use Norton 360. I have had no problem other than last year when both companies updated their programs and there was a slight problem with performance until Norton issued a further update. Webroot were most helpful in trying to find out what was the problem and an engineer telephoned me to solve the problem, he suggested a remedy, asked if I was happy to carry out the procedure by myself or would i like him to "dial in" and do it for me and followed up with another phone call the next day when I said i was happy to do it myself to see if everything had gone to plan. More recently I had a small problem when trying to reinstall the program, sent an email through the help and support system and once again a Webroot representative telephoned me within hours of sending the email and sorted the problem out in about 10 minutes and even extended my subscription by 3 months. In all the time of using Spy Sweeper and Norton both on my laptop and PC despite fairly heavy use and substantial time spent online I have never been infected and everything which wants to try has been stopped or blocked. Many people say not to use 2 real time programs such as the ones I have, however, both Symantec and Webroot engineers have told me that there is no reason not to other than some performance related problems. I notice that when both are running CPU usage goes up by about 4% of my 2.5 Gb of RAM but with normally over 60% not being used I do not see it as a problem along with a small amount of CPU useage. I am extremely pleased with all aspects of this program and support from the company..
