"A cloud of your own and an anti-virus just as light."

    December 24, 2011  |   By Agent_Dasher

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

    Instantly updated due to server-side definitions;
    Ridiculously user-friendly UI;
    Uses the least amount of system resources of any security software I've ever used;
10 gigs of personal cloud storage for backing up your most important files

    Cons

None as of yet; I've had this product installed for over a month now, and since installation, I've had no notifications, and no reason to enter the User Interface... impressive.

    Summary

Never have I seen a piece of security software from any company that runs so light. During normal workload, the Webroot SA system process eats a mere 444kb of total memory, making it completely unnoticeable when compared to other security software, and even many core Windows processes. The cloud-based definitions mean that you're as up-to-date as is currently possible, because as soon as it's on Webroot's server, it's protecting you. No need for time-consuming, scheduled updates. Asks almost nothing of the user during installation, and I have literally not seen one notification during my month+ of usage, making it something you can install and forget about for the next year or more, depending on your chosen subscription term. Included in the cost of your annual subscription is also 10 gigs of online cloud storage, allowing anyone to back up their most precious documents/photos to prevent loss during hard drive catastrophes. Way to go, Webroot!

    "quite satisfied"

    December 22, 2011  |   By lamqsb

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

    fast, effective and light

    Cons

Sometimes my HDD doesn't stop after I shut down pc. Remove it and everything is ok.
The problem appears in previous version also. That's what I don't like about it.

    Summary

    Can it be called defective?

    "fastest and most effective!"

    December 2, 2011  |   By Irak-tech

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

I have been a systems support engineer for over 30 years and have seen virtually every malware infection and have used dozens of AV products. WR Secureanywhere is a "game changer"! I have been using it since the day it was released and I am amazed at how light, fast and effective it is. I have used it to "cleanup" my clients' that have been using the "big names" and have gotten infected. I think it's important to understand Secureanywhere is cloud-centric so unlike the other AV programs, it doesn't seem to "get" updates, it's always working with the very latest definitions because it's linked to the Webroot servers. I like the idea that Webroot cloud learns in real-time and can have a new definition on my system just as fast. An additional feature I love is the web-based control panel. This is great because I have several PC's loaded with Secureanywhere and I can monitor their AV status from a single page. BTW, I don't work for WR, I just know a good product when I see (use) it.

    Cons

TROLLS, arg. I've installed this application on many systems, XP through Win7 pro and had ZERO problems... When I see this, or any decent product get a ridiculous negative review like "it trashed my system" or "horrible" I know that it's just one of those trolls paid by the "other guy" to write rubbish.

    "Terrible program."

    November 29, 2011  |   By tazman171

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

None that became apparent as the PC was rendered useless.

    Cons

Completely slowed XP to a crawl. Only thing that would get the computer to not take 15 minutes to boot was uninstalling it. Out of faith I reinstalled it 2 more times on a fresh XP Home install and the same issue returned. Computer was brought to me to find out why it had become so slow, WebRoot was the root cause.

    Summary

For me the experience was crap, try a refined anti virus, not this one.

    "I really like this antivirus!"

    November 18, 2011  |   By BernieEarnie

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

I ditched Norton for this and am very pleased with it so far. It runs super-fast on my pc and a full system scan takes less than 2 minutes. I purchased after the trial with no reservations. It is an EXTREMELY small download package and installed super-fast with no issues.

To the user who complained that it is impossible to cancel the auto renewal, I would argue that it took me less than 20 seconds to cancel the process.

I would also like to inform everyone that, in my experience, I have not encountered 1 pop-up that "stopped what I was doing", as one user stated. In fact, other than the not-too-often systray balloon, I haven't encountered any popups at all.

    Cons

Not really an issue, but I really wish they would do away with the auto renewal. They should leave it up to the customer to decide.

    Summary

I would recommend not basing your decision to try this based on the few negative ratings given by a couple of users. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend at least trying it, if you are in the market for a new av.

    ""Not ready for Prime Time""

    November 17, 2011  |   By israelnow1

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

Downloaded Webroot Secure Anywhere and so far I have found no Pros about it. If it did not slow my computer to worse than a creep I might be able to detect a pro if one exists.

    Cons

It slowed my computer so that it takes forever,10 to 15 minutes even, to access the Internet or search if you ever get connected. As usual with Webroot, this upgrade is not ready to be released and no warning is given that it is not. They generally provide pretty good products but have always had lousy tech and customer service which has certainly not improved. They give you something that does not work well and then provide no real help in straightening out the mess. I have been their customer for years but do not plan to purchase anything from them in the future.

    "terrible product"

    November 15, 2011  |   By dmoney9292

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0

    Pros

There are no benefits to using this product. There are free tools that do the same thing like spybot.

    Cons

`One you buy it they make it almost impossible to cancel the yearly subscription. They dead-end you on customer service lines and don't respond to the email they tell you to contact. They will continue to charge you even though you don't authorize it.
