    "Not worth the effort"

    May 12, 2013  |

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0.2.118

    Pros

IF it actually does what it says (scan & protect), it does so quickly & easily and it has a great user interface.

    Cons

I only used a free trial, during which time ZERO threats were found on my laptop (WinVista Home w/ Windows Defender & MalWareBytes). After uninstalling this program at Control Panel, there were STILL daily popup reminders to BUY the full application as well as it retaining all my program settings; it took only ten seconds to restore the program & my settings "invisibly" (I thought to try re-installing it to see if it had its own uninstaller). Although it didn't re-show up in my start menu, I could invoke it from the taskbar icon & run a scan. I then had to manually scour my folders & registry to (hopefully) completely eliminate it.

    Summary

I felt safe while I had it installed, but after spending the entire morning trying to get rid of this program, I DO NOT feel safe FROM WEBROOT. Time will tell.

"Malware pretending to be security software"

    May 8, 2013  |   By AdamNYC

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0.2.118

    Pros

    None. This is malware.

    Cons

    Downloaded surreptitiously with another program.

    Reported false positives.

    HUGE resource hog.

The worst "security" or "antivirus" software I've ever found on my computer.

"super program, no ... super super program"

    April 13, 2013  |   By ChoiceVoice

Version: Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 8.0.2.118

    Pros

-this thing is unbelievably small and has absolutely no impact on your computer. I have used a lot and nothing is remotely close to this.
-this small package holds a lot of stuff. best heuristic around, webroot def in cloud, firewall, identity protection, process manager and controller, sandbox.
    -pc mag 2013 best antivirus.
    -disk load around 400k/s
-on disk: 709 kb. yes, that is not a typo. I once saw a computer using trend micro with around a 1 gb. I think kaspersky (an excellent product) uses over 400mb (please post correction if i'm off)
    -reputable company from lawful country.
-great customer service. I've dealt with them several times and never had a problem.
-according to testing: avg uses 16x more memory, Kaspersky uses 15x, mchafee uses 20x etc etc.
-you can use this with another antivirus is you want, it is designed by webroot not to conflict and is so light you wouldn't even know webroot is there.

    Cons

-none. this is the cat's meow.
-there protection approach is different than everyone else and is difficult for independent testers to evaluate. it is extremely effective at keeping your system clean, not sure how good it is when loaded onto infected system.

    Summary

what do you get when webroot buys and combines these products with webroot spysweeper: threatfire (hired all their developers after mcafee bought them out) and prevx (smallest, lightest antivirus and awesome identity protection). you get secure anywhere.
