    "Misses a lot"

    December 3, 2009  |   By tnleafer

Version: Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 7.0.8.7

    Pros

The spyware protection runs quietly in the background withut slowing my machine.
    Simple install

    Cons

Missed Trojans on 2 occasions. I called for removal assistance, they charged me $50 and told me to download and run malwarebytes??
It was already on my machine. Needless to say I am shopping for new protection.

    Summary

Webroot was a good antivirus program, Internet Security Suite doesn't cut the mustard.
They should be spanked for using malwarebytes to clean up their failures, and have the nerve to charge for the recomendation, find a new security suite

    Updated on Dec 4, 2009

Once again, last night, Webroot missed the vundo virus- malewarebytes caught it and got rid of it.
What happened to what used to be a good program???

    "The best of the best."

    October 5, 2009  |   By reviewer1st

Version: Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 7.0.8.7

    Pros

This software found a file called - "MYWEB" addressed as Malware/VIrus/Spyware that other security software just didn't find and stop.I done test myself to see if this file was a virus and it was, it replicated itself over and over and over.

    Cons

Doesn't protect against "SPAM" emails. It protects again viruses/spyware/malware, but not spam.

    Summary

This is the best security software you will find anywhere to stop viruses/spyware/malware or rootkits IMO. Where this lacks as a total internet security program is it's lack of attention towards stopping "SPAM" in emails. The thing with VISTA which is what I use is that all these security programs seem to think that "JUNK EMAIL" provided in Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail seem to make up for that but they don't. A simple "SPAM" button to mark messages and domains as a toolbar or a menu option in the emails would be nice, and honestly should be crucial to being a total internet security suite program. That's the only reason I give this a 4 star instead of 5. It's a great program and it seems to catch anything that's destructive with the exception of some addware files that could be considered questionable IMO for what they are. This is a great program. It just needs more email protection and remove more addware. Other than that the protection again viruses/spyware/malware is stellar! I should mention that the performance with my simple computer hasn't lagged any since I have been using this.

It amazes me that so many supposed security programs out there on the box at the stores in the requirements mention "Internet Explorer" but no "FireFox" and I guess that's because they don't support them. This one seems to be supporting "FireFox" fine for me. I give this one a thumbs up and a 4 star. If it had "SPAM" support I'd give it a 5 and say it's perfect, other than that I recommend this highly!

    "not user friendly"

    July 24, 2009  |   By joedthomp

Version: Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 7.0.8.7

    Pros

av and antimalware seem to work fine.

    Cons

that damned firewall bs makes spysweeper a real pain.

    Summary

i have use webroot for about 5 years and it seems to get more complicated and unfriendly each year. the av and antimaleware seem to work fine but trying to figure out the fireawall is impossible for me. for example the firewall interrupts and tells me a certain program is trying to connect to the net from my computer. firewall tells me the name of the program but 99% of the time i have absolutly no idea what the program is. my option is to choose yes or automatically in 40 seconds the firewall will block the connection. but, the reason i have a firewall is to avoid having to deal with this type of interruption. i may try to reach webroot to cancel my subscription. and that is another problem in that the webroot customer service is impossible. i have waited over 40 minutes on the phone only to be told i have to call another webroot number. if you call to purchase webroot then you are connected as soon as their phone rings. but any other service is worthless. all in all, i would not recomend webroot even though the av and antimalware do seem to work, the hassle is not worth it. there are other security programs available.
after 5 years with webroot i have seen the evolution of their customer service and it is more like devolution and i dont recomend webroot because of the hassle of the firewall and the lack of customer service

    "Excellent Software for Windows Vista"

    July 10, 2009  |   By wbr229

Version: Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 7.0.8.7

    Pros

Have Windows Vista, SP2, no problems. Easy to install and use. Does not hog resources like Norton. Used Kaspersky and could not use Itunes because it stated that Quicktime had a virus, even though I just updated. Norton hogs resources.

    Cons

    None. Product is excellent

    "Webroot Internet security Sucks!"

    December 23, 2008  |   By avg_guy

Version: Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 7.0.8.7

    Pros

    Easy to install

    Cons

After installation (on clean system webroot upgrade)shutdown now takes 5 minutes.
My logitech mouse stops working about 30 minutes after boot, I have to use the laptops touch pad.
    Blocks installation of iTunes.
    No customer support

    Summary

This software package blocks everything from running. as soon as I uninstalled it all the problems I mentioned above went away.
I uninstalled it after waiting (i have vonage) 2 hours for someone to answer the support line. My contact information was taken and then I was put back in queue to wait another hour and I never spoke to anyone. By then I had the software uninstalled. - Never got the promised call, if we got cut off. BTW my webroot ticket number is 081215-000955. Call them see if you can get through.
