"Next Killer App, beats downloading with FTP servers"
Version: WebDrive 6.11
Pros
This application cuts downloading large files from ftp servers to a couple of minutes instead of hours. I really wonder, if this exists, why should we require a ftp server.
Cons
"WebDrive integrates FTP, WebDAV, SFTP or FrontPage servers into the Windows desktop by making your web server appear as a network drive" Therefore, only the mentioned apps could make full use of this technology.

"Downloads OK, Uploads Fail"
Version: WebDrive 6.11
Pros
Great idea, poor execution. My files download just great.
Cons
Uploads take many attempts, and sometimes fail and sometimes don't. SouthRiver tech support is poor. They respond with very unthoughtful answers.

"The best ftp yet!"
Version: WebDrive 6.08
Pros
Extremely easy to use. What I mostly like is that there is no need to play the "rename game" when making duplicate files on your ftp site. simply copy/paste within the same window and it will automatically rename your copied "index.html" file to "copy of index.html".
Cons
bumped into a little connection problem but software's company was very helpful. All i had to do was disable winXP's built in firewall software. (only a problem if you do not have an alternate firewall)

"Easy idea with excellent toys :)"
Version: WebDrive 6.08
Pros
Securing a transmission is usuall a dream of every people on the Internet who afraid of (packet) sniffers.
sFTP is just something which makes this program useful (i didn't used Etheral/etc. to try out sniffing, yet). I wonder if this can be used well to make a new security layer before the newly added server links can be accessed (~tunneling :).
Cons
I reflected to the "joke" reviewer's little note with a plus as a lot of webdrive job can be done with explorer.exe/iexplore.exe :)
Well, experienced users know that they should only (for example) type in to dos prompt something like:
net use W: \\theserver\theshare /user:theusersdomain\user /persistent:no
It's just to clear why i said easy at the summary (~for experienced users).
I don't like how it's .. let me say how to advertis this program? I think it should use some more words about "general secure transfering", instead of useing words mainly on the "web server". There are ftp servers out there and some free spaces users may thing this program isn't good for them (~as they don't really have web server). A better definition is needed :).
Personaly, i'm not quite sure about the price. This should be a plugin for Windows Explorer, instead of a program (i prefer WE).
- you have connected something to a drive letter, how you know that it's free (disconnected or not)? Unexperienced users won't really know what the problem is. Please, use detailed error handling, instead of leaveing it to the system (~ a 1/2-way..)
- there's a back button at the Add new site.. for what?
- users should know that mapping a drive from a far-far-... far away server will slow their computers/connections, is there a warning anywhere? (of course, yes, the choosed ftp servers are from the biggest companies ftp servers.. no wonder they are somehow ok)
- "Run at startup" (tray option) should be disabled right after setup
- not much places where a help button can be found...
