"Unusable"
Version: WebCam Recorder 1.36
Pros
It sometimes actually works.
Cons
Horribly amaturish-looking interface. Does a "wizard" type setup for each recording, which would be great, except unnecessarily huge windows pop up, usually in a position on top of something I need to see during the setup. For me, this is a small annoyance because my screen resolution is set to 1024x768. I can't imagine that someone set to 800x600 (which most home users are) could find this less than irritating. The worst thing about this software is that it doesn't work about 40% of the time, and until you're done recording, you have no clue that you've recorded a BLANK SCREEN! After some experimentation I have discovered that this usually happens with relatively long recording sessions (over 30 minutes), so DON'T rely on this for security! Also, there were many files that I could not open after recording. Some were the result of the fact that I ran out of disk space and this thing is too stupid to see that coming and just crashes while recording. This is an inexcusable oversite in a supposedly "professionally" written piece of software such as this. Sometimes I did not run out of disk space, but this happened anyway. If you stop a recording, then click "Record" again to start a new recording, it will automatically use your last profile. This would certainly be nice in some situations, but if you have changed the position of the desired video on your screen, then you have to shut down Webcam Recorder completely and start over. Why not just give the user a choice? One last thing...the "watermark" that this software puts on the screen in the demo version is so big that it makes judging the quality just about impossible. Why not just a time limit, or a transluscent watermark, or God forbid, a SMALLER watermark instead of the big ugly black lettering? Every other recorder I've tried is way better than this one. I'm amazed that they are asking this price. Don't waste your time or money.

"Mildy Amusing"
Version: WebCam Recorder 1.36
Pros
Unlike the previous intsaller, I did not have any trouble downloading or installing the software. It worked as advertized and gave multiple format options to save the streaming video.
Cons
It does however make the video run much slower than normal. All other software applications were not affected (i.e. slowed my computer down becuase there wasn't enough RAM). When it's finished recording, there's a nasty advertizement in the middle of the screen. I dont know if this will go away in the full version, but it's definately not worth the 25 bucks in my opinion.

"not too shabby"
Version: WebCam Recorder 1.36
Summary
I read some of the reviews on here, and I was aprehensive about d/l-ing and installing it.
There is no real documentation to help new users out. So... no real "support"... not a promissingn prospect when they want you to pay $25 for this app.
But I went ahead and did it.
I must say, that it seems to function pretty well.
It's a bit tricky at first because the instructions aren't exactly written in "laymans language" very well.
But once I clicked around a bit, I was able to get pretty much the desired result.
It does not mention that you MUST leave the window which contains the recornding image alone.
Once you finally achieve the recording, DO NOT move, touch, or in any way obscure the web cam window you are recording.
Other than that, it leaves a stamp (they call it a water mark, but it's not) in the middle of the image until you pay. But, it's tollerable to some degree.
I haven't tried any other streaming recording app...but this appears ok, and likely I'll use it from time to time.
By the way...this app is NOT set up to do sound, just web cam.
If you get it functioning, you'll be able to record your buddy's cam, OR your cam.
You can not record multiple cams at the same time...
Anyway... that's the best I can offer...
It's a reasonable, useable app if you're pc savvy.
Image quality is a comperable facimilie.
Not a lot of bells and whistles.
No real support for "how to" or "first timers". -

"froze my XP"
Version: WebCam Recorder 1.36
Summary
Is this the only product that can record webcams?? why can't messengers do it? this is silly. It looked pretty straightforward.. but when I went to use it it froze the computer.. luckily the one thing that worked was task manager so I could shut it down without rebooting.. oh well.. if there are other options e-mail me :) write_Eric@(romovethis)yahoo.com

"What the heck is this?"
Version: WebCam Recorder 1.36
Summary
I don't know, maybe it's me but this has nothing to do with webcams. I was simply looking for a product to record my kids with my webcam. This isn't that. This is nothing but a screen capture utility.
