    Version: Web Page Maker 2.0

    "Not good."

by ReviewMan on August 17, 2005

Pros: You can move your text and images like block and that gives a flexibility of positioning. Good to design.

    Cons: Many Many Cons ...

[1] All Webpages are saved in Same Folder.

[2] Navbar does not get exported properly when used with different links on different pages.

[3] Exports each link image as seperate image for every Navbar on every page. In my website, there was a link FAQ on 4 pages and it exported FAQ (original & mouse roll-over) 4 times with different name everytime! Why so many images when even a new web designer knows to use same image and just give a different link!!!!!!!!

[4] Not much of Web Templates available.

[5] Support response is very slow.

All in all, I won't recommend this product to anybody. This product has a potential though. But Developers, I think, just rushed to launch it before making full-featured product. They might have got carried away by the potential of this software to evolve as an excellent product. But it's not at all an excellent product as yet and a lot of development is necessary.

Reviewman, when I submitted my reply to you I received a message from Download.com about not allowing URL's in their postings, so I had to remove the http, but it will work if you copy and paste it just the way it is. It doesn't use www either. Mike

Reviewman, you seem to be the only person giving Web Page Maker 2 a poor review. Everybody else seems to think it's at least good enough to download and use, however they all have a "Con" in common and that seems to be the lack of quality templates. I don't use templates so that doesn't concern me, I create out of my own head. Also I don't know what the skill level is with writing code of the other 6 people who reviewed Web Page Maker. I'm not an expert by any means but I can hold my own with some of the easier stuff. My current site was built 25% using a combination of my own code and 75% using a program called Composer that downloads as a freebie with Netscape. You don't have to use Netscape as your browser, nor any of it's other features, but you do have to download it to get Composer. Composer is definately WYSIWYG which is what I needed as I didn't know any code when I started. It's very easy to use and compares to MS Word in many ways. Have a look at my web site and let me know what you think, and yes I know that the link for Socks on the index.html page doesn't go anywhere, I'm working on his page.

I don't have any strictly "adult" or "X" rated material on any of my pages but 1 or 2 of the pages could offend the sensibilities of those who do not believe in live and let live. I'd appreciate your opinion of the site created by Composer, but would ask that you not flame me for content. I'd also be interested in seeing what you created, if you've uploaded it to the internet. Thanks, Mike
