      "Constantly crashes under Snow Leopard"

      January 21, 2010   |   By RichL

      Version: WeatherLink 5.0.4

      Pros

Nothing. There is nothing to like.

      Cons

As usual, the Mac WeatherLink software is years behind the Windows version, crashes constantly, and Davis offers no help to make it work.
      Move on....

      Summary

I'd like to see this software gain parity with the Windows version....just once.

"There has to be better software than this"

      November 07, 2005   |   By swsd

      Version: WeatherLink 5.0.3

      Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have used the terrible version 5.0.2 for around a year. When I upgraded from OS 10.4.2 to 10.4.3 it finally became totally "disfunctional" I could download data from my Vantage Pro wireless station but virtually nothing else. Even the red "close" boxes stopped working.
I am now testing 5.0.3 and its basic features seem to work. However, I have to agree with all the other people here who criticize this software. It is terrible and non-Mac intuitive.
I would be prepared to pay good money for a true Mac application that could download the station data in a spreadsheet format, make decent quality graphs and upload selected current and historical data items to my website. If there is anyone out there that is in the same situation, can you post here and let's see if someone will take up the challenge. There have been around 260 downloads of this version in a month and, I would suspect, 260 dissatisfied users.

      "Software a Joke"

      September 28, 2005   |   By philb9--2008

      Version: WeatherLink 5.0.2

      Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
      I fully agree.

"This software is written in Java. It is very slow. Still needs many features. Davis does not spend much time, effort, or money on the Mac version of Weatherstation, even though the same investment goes into the equipment you must buy. The interface is reminiscent of 1980s or earlier design and the program is buggy. Sometimes it will not boot up part of the program at all or crashes and takes down the system (yes, it is one of the very few programs I've seen that will occasionally crash OS X, requiring a re-start)."

Davis makes an excellent weather station, but the software for mac is terrible. It does work but crudely. It is so bad, Davis shoud offer it free if at all.

      "Unreliable and lacking Features"

      January 30, 2005   |   By ElectronMan

      Version: WeatherLink 5.0.2

      Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have been using Weatherlink for several years. The OS X version is written in Java and is slow. Davis has not really spent much time or effort in improving this '80s era style software. "Bulletin" is the main feature to monitor weather readings in real-time but the OS X version is unreliable and very slow. Sometimes it will boot up with no problem and sometimes it will not boot up at all, forcing a quit--this behavior is seemingly random because the following day it may boot up with no problem. In version 5.01 this behavior would crash the computer, now it just forces a quit. I beta tested this software suggesting multiple improvements, but Davis was unresponsive and the program nevber got past beta1. I don't think Davis wants to spend much on software improvements--they're happy selling hardware (which IS very good). Too bad!
