    "Worked for awhile, but..."

    November 13, 2004  |

    Version: Weather Watcher 5.5a

    Summary

This program worked flawlessly on my computer for awhile, but then one day I came home to find the program monopolizing my cpu resources for no apparent reason, and restarting the computer did not fix the problem either. This program has great potential and may work for most but the programmers need to fix this problem.

"Good, but problems keeping it running after a week"

    October 22, 2004  |

    Version: Weather Watcher 5.5a

    Summary

I really like this program. I am studying abroad in Germany this year. When I am at home in the states I use Weatherbug. I like that program a lot, especially since it has some live photo features, and the ability to choose weather towers in your neighborhood. Although this program doesn't give you those options, it does give you weather map options that weatherbug doesn't, and of course it is international. The best part about this program is the fact that you can have multiple cities being forcasted at the same time, which weatherbug also won't do.

My only complaint about this program is that it often doesn't run after you have it loaded on your computer for a week or two. For a while it is just fine. Running with no problems. Then after a couple of weeks it doesn't load on start-up anymore, and the icon disappears from your tool bar. It still appears on your systems screan if you hit Ctr.Alt.Del. but you can't access it by selecting the program icon or name from the start list. Even if you turn off the program and restart it nothing happens. I didn't have this problem until I added with Service Pac II update, so I wonder if it might not have something to do with that program.

That being said, you can always turn off the program and download it again, and it will work fine for awhile. I have done that 4 times now, so I guess that will tell you how much I like it.

    "One great little program!"

    September 23, 2004  |   By frankiboy

    Version: Weather Watcher 5.5a

    Summary

'weather watcher' is a simple, yet simply great little programm. no ads, no spyware, no registration. unlike 'weather channel..' (ads+registration) or 'weatherbug' (pure ads+spyware+'upgrade' promotion). american and world weather. i love the regularly updating satellite pic option set as my desktop background, in my case it's a map of europe. no trouble what-so-ever on my windows xp athlon pc. some bug on my 1996 windows2000 laptop, but i guess it's the tired machine's fault rather than a programming error. will email the author (whose hobby this program appears to be) since he's inviting suggestions and any bug reports for his regular updates.

    "2nd Rate to WeatherBug"

    September 21, 2004  |

    Version: Weather Watcher 5.5a

    Summary

1st - it's not live weather. A live feed does not equal live weather. If it uses Weather.com data then they get it from the NWS and their data is ususally hours old. WeatherBug has it's own network of weather stations - you see the weather from anywhere in the country in real time. 2nd - I'm suspicious of how they make money. No ads? I suspect spyware just like most of hte other apps besided WeatherBug.

    "Excellent"

    September 18, 2004  |

    Version: Weather Watcher 5.5a

    Summary

This is such a great tool. I tried WeatherBug for a while and really hated it, then went right to the source - weather.com and their tool is almost as bad.

I have been so happy with Weather Watcher that I even serve as a download mirror for Singer's Creations!

    Thanks.

"this is basically weatherbug without stupid annoying ads."

    September 16, 2004  |   By ubergeek

    Version: Weather Watcher 5.5a

    Summary

This is way better than weatherbug. You don't have to worry about those annoying ads popping up. You can also configure it to alert you of severe weather. Special note: It uses weather.com for live weather. I highly recommend this to people that want live weather on their desktop.
