"Doesn't Do Anything Special, Bulky Today Screen Plugin"

    February 24, 2010  |   By elestermann

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7

    Pros

Seems to quickly search for a working wifi access point.

    Cons

"Blocked" test doesn't detect some HTML login screens.
Today screen plugin is HUGE and mostly pointless.
    Deletes existing wifi passwords.

    Summary

It only does a tiny bit more than the built-in wifi handler for Windows Mobile 6, which doesn't justify having something else running as well as the required deletion of all your pre-existing wifi keys. If it actually tested the connection correctly it would be great! What I think it's doing is trying to access a fixed resource, and if it doesn't get a failure it reports back "Internet Available". However, 70% of the hotspots in any big city are private business ones that redirect your request to a login page - which WeFi seems to regard as being the resource it was trying to access. I didn't test whether it would differentiate between closed encrypted connections and open encrypted connections, I am assuming it does this which is why I gave it two stars. It seems like they could do a couple minor enhancements to what they've got here and this tool would go from useless to great!

"Wonderful software!!! Very easy to use, very helpful!!!"

    March 18, 2009  |   By haimlz

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7

    Pros

Takes the frustration out of regular Wi-Fi use. I no longer even think about it ? I simply activate my Wi-Fi and I know I?m going to be connected to a spot with Internet behind it.
The OneTouch panel is a genius idea!

    Cons

I only wish the OneTouch panel had more than 5 buttons, the idea is great but I have way more than 5 links / applications I would like to use in it.

    Summary

I love it. It?s simple, it works perfectly, I can finally use my device Wi-Fi capability without being frustrated by the long process of finding a spot with Internet behind.
Will recommend to everyone I know with WinMo.

"not perfect, but MUCH better than any other"

    November 25, 2008  |   By jeanpaul007

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7

    Pros

It is stil "rough around the edges" but works very well on my MIO
it is so easy now to find and connect to Wi-Fi hotpspots
It also shows me that we have a lot more open Wi-Fi in our street that I could imagine

    Cons

I am not sure how the "power saving slider" works - it needs to have more explanation

    Summary

For all the poor people that bought a Win Mobile phone because it has Wi-Fi and then got an ulcer trying to use it - this is really a new level of comfort in fonding and connecting to Wi-Fi.
This "one-touch" idea is really nice - you can configure a pallet of websites that you can go into in one click, and then Wi-Fi is automatically activated and the website runs on Wi-Fi - all automatic

    It's simple.

"Does not work on Windows Mobile 6.x"

    September 17, 2008  |   By RoninDH

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7

    Pros

Had it worked, I would be able to actually post something here.

    Cons

Doesn't work on my Motorola Q9h Global with Windows Mobile 6.x (I have 6.0 but can upgrade freely to 6.1, but am waiting to upgrade for now).

    Summary

After installing, my phone refused to connect to ANYTHING. Would not connect to my home network (through either bluetooth or data cable), could not access my email, web browser refused to load any pages, etc. Even tried restarting the phone a few times to test it out. Finally decided to just remove it and found that it left behind quite a few files. Good thing I backup up my phone and it's settings regularly and simply just restored everything on it without having to do a hard reset. Sorry, but until the issues are fixed, I cannot recommend this software for anyone using a Windows Mobile based phone.

    "Terrible product"

    August 28, 2008  |   By twinpiloot

Version: WeFi for Pocket PC 1.7

    Pros

no idea, did not use it.

    Cons

Installation corrupted by WiFi settings. Product removal did not restore the settings. I had to make a hard reset to restore the settings on Windows Mobile 6.1. The author did not do his/her homework!
