Waze provides detailed, voice-directed navigation and hazard alerts.
Comprehensive instructions: Waze offers the most detailed navigation instructions we've seen in any mapping software. Google Maps and Apple Maps pale in comparison.
Real-time traffic info: Through Waze, you're alerted to car accidents, road closures, police officers, and other obstacles between you and your destination. During testing, we received numerous alerts about accidents or drivers stalled on the shoulder up ahead. If things are too messy, Waze will reroute you.
Cheap gas: If you need to find a cheap gas station, chances are high that your fellow Waze drivers have added one to the app.
Social: Sync your contacts and add your Facebook friends, and you'll be able to send your estimated arrival time to friends and family.
Smart reminders: Sync your calendar and Waze will tell you the optimum time to head out based on current drive times.
One-touch selections: From your Map page, expand the pop-up window at the bottom to calculate alternate routes, send your ETA, or add a stop to your trip with the touch of a single button.
Reduced battery consumption: With the latest update, Waze uses far less of your battery. When you're inactive, press the power button on the top right of the search page and Waze will put you in Sleep Mode, which uses no battery. Just press Wake Up on that screen to resume.
Too much requested of you to start: To set up Waze, you must allow Waze access to your location, sign away your driving data, provide your phone number, provide access to your Facebook or an email for log-in, and accept push notifications.
Overwhelming number of icons onscreen: If you're in a dense area, you may be overwhelmed by all the icons, standing for other Waze users, police officers, traffic lights, gas stations, and so on. The good news is that you can turn off icons under Display Settings.
Waze continues to impress us with its turn-by-turn instructions and growing conveniences, such as smart reminders, one-touch selections, and reduced battery consumption.
Very useful and good content provided by user community
on long trips for those that do not have unlimited data plans this is a data hog app. my wife and I share a 1gb a month data plan as that is all we really need. We drove from Jacksonville fl to Charlotte nc on a 7 hour drive and used over 65% of out 1gb data plan, after we arrived we turned navigation off and closed the app but somehow it kept running and the next morning woke to 100% data plan usage. we uninstalled the app.
I find this to be THE BEST NAVIGATION DEVICE out there today!!! Here are a few simple reasons why you should install it and give it a try!! * FREE!! * DRIVER GENERATED AND OPERATED, meaning, once you install it and run the application on your phone, it TRACKS YOUR LOCATION and SPEED and lets others know how fast or slow the traffic is. * You can REPORT these and other HAZARDS= * REPORT CONSTRUCTION. * REPORT POLICE and SPEED TRAPS. * REPORT ACCIDENTS. * REPORT TRAFFIC, (of various degrees). * INTEGRATE your FACEBOOK FRIENDS and see whom is driving the farthest distance. * You can PING other DRIVERS along your route and send a quick MESSAGE to other drivers. * You can set you HOME AS A LOCATION, for faster routing home. * VOICE NAVIGATION, chose a MALE or FEMALE voice as your default. * Chose to navigate FASTEST, or SHORTEST ROUTE, as the shortest is not always the fastest. * Chose what you want your car to be, and color sheme * PLUS MANY OTHER REALLY COOL FEATURES!!!
As with ANY NAVIGATION DEVICE, it occasionally has it's flaws. On occasion, it has crashed or not been able to connect. But, even the high priced navigation devices I've used in the past have crashed as well. So, as a backup, it never hurts to have a secondary navigation device. Everyone I have tried has had errors, but as a whole, this one is the best!!
