"A good editor but it doesn't save files!"

    May 25, 2006  |   By Wonk

    Pros

This is a good audio editor with plenty of features for basic digital sound editing.

    Cons

File saves are disabled. My experience trying WavePad irked me because; (1) it's listed as having no limitations, (2) the installation process fails to mention saves are disabled, and (3) I spent an hour trying WordPad but I lost all my work after being unable to save. WavePad should be listed as a trial version and changed to either warn the user or allow at least a few files to be saved. I wanted a sound editor that works as described, not one that wastes my time, so I'll be looking elsewhere.

As the others users said, I have no problem to save my files since I use the free version. If you use the masters version, you need to upgrade...

There are two versions of WavePad - the normal edition and the masters edition. The version that is available to download on C|Net (above) is the normal, completely free version that can save files to a number of different file formats.

Wonk had downloaded the Masters edition (most likely from another site) which is a paid version of WavePad that offers more advanced features. If he decided not to purchase, which it appears he did, then his masters edition version was set to expire and the abilitiy to save files was disabled.

If you are experiencing the same problem, just uninstall and download the free version available above.

I have just tried to save an audio MP3 file after editing it and I can assure you it has been successful. For the rest I do find this freeware program very performing considering the numerous good features included.
