"Notice all the initial 5 star reviews...?"
Version: WS_Ping ProPack 2.3
Pros
none
Cons
All the initial reviews that said it was a great piece of software and gave it 5 stars were done by anonymous users. All the real opinions that say how bad it is are given by registered users... gee I wonder who did all those 5 star ones... the developer perhaps?????

"As powerfull as a weezing chaffinch"
Version: WS_Ping ProPack 2.3
Summary
The application installed ok, but it was disheartening to see yet another tabbed dialog with basic network functions hanging off it. These sort of applications should really be given away free.

"Almost $40 for... this?"
Version: WS_Ping ProPack 2.3
Summary
Close and relaunch the entire application just to ping a different host or IP? Yes, 'tis true, you have to do that. And apparently, IPSwitch is concerned about people using WS_Ping to mount "ping of death" attacks, which is why they don't let you repeat pings. Well, guess what? Any networking utility that CAN'T handle so simple and critical a task falls terribly short for those of us who need to monitor hosts or routers. Purposely crippling a utility is idiotic. Or perhaps port scanning should be left out as well? Oh yes, let's also petition Microsoft to remove the "DELETE" function from MS-DOS's command.com while we're at it. Stupid, just plain stupid.

"Attractive and mostly effective, but unpolished for the price..."
Version: WS_Ping ProPack 2.3
Summary
I tried WS_Ping ProPack primarily for the "ping" function. I was disappointed. For one thing, you cannot set up a continuous ping loop with WS_Ping ProPack. I also found that the "Stop" button didn't work properly, and this made me close and relaunch WS_Ping ProPack just to do another ping. Another "nice touch" was that after uninstalling WS_Ping ProPack, IPSwitch saw fit to leave their key in my registry, and one in my WIN.INI file. That annoys me. At over $37, WS_Ping ProPack isn't cheap, and I find these shortcomings unacceptable.
