    "Spyware, pure and simple"

    May 1, 2013  |   By ChdeLang

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Internet Explorer 20111107

    Pros

Know the opinion of a small community

    Cons

    Your privacy is at risk
    Browsing history saved

    Summary

Web of Trust (WOT) for Internet Explorer is a dangerous thing to have installed. It is a trojan horse and reports home about every single web site you have visited.

Do yourself a favor and avoid/uninstall this spyware.

    "Excellent Extension"

    December 29, 2012  |   By Jo Rhyan

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Internet Explorer 20111107

    Pros

First web advisor I have used that did not crash my browser thirty times a day. Very user friendly. Lets you set safety levels for different categories including child safety. Allows you to check the history of a site and if there have been any significant changes to the site within the last year and what and how many other sites the owner owns. Definitely makes web browsing less stressful.

    Cons

Extension, although enabled, sometimes becomes disabled. I simply enable when this happens. Still a lot of sites that WOT does not have ratings for, but we can change that by rating the sites that we visit. Neither con is a significant problem. I notice that when I rate a page, several users have come behind me and rated it also. Especially if you share on your social networks.

    Summary

Just a great program. One that not only works, but doesn't stop my browser from working.

    December 25, 2012  |   By aleksandragj

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Internet Explorer 20111107

    Pros

    Easy and trustworthy

    Cons

None as it never led me to a spooky site

    Summary

    Highly recommended

    Updated on Dec 25, 2012

after reading the other comments: I do use AVG scanner and Zone Alarm. They do warm me! OK, so perhaps WOT gives me the courage to click on a link.

    "Not So Trustworthy"

    July 6, 2012  |   By ElObomo

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Internet Explorer 20111107

    Pros

    Could have been useful.

    Cons

Any special interest group, political party, or people with an ax to grind can load up this system with their own biased opinions and skew the results.

    Summary

Get AVG link scanner - it will spot real problem websites and warn you - not give you something that's an opinion from some thought police group.
