    "mywot warning"

    November 9, 2012  |   By islandhopper67

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Firefox 20120926

    Pros

    no pro on this company

    Cons

    -slows down computer browsing
-give 50-60% wrong rating on smaller newer sites
-even if you remove from your computer there are some files that never are removed
-company in Finland that doesn't care about customer service at all.

    Summary

beware of this toolbar. They are already the joke trust company online and verisign and mcafee are real internet trust/security companies. Just a waste of time .. I give them 2 years to be gone.

"very poor rating system, which i easily gamed"

    November 5, 2012  |   By geomywot

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Firefox 20120926

    Pros

none, the original idea was good but now they allow a small group control and effect the entire rating system.

    Cons

    - user fraud
    - user manipulation
    - bad review process
    - if you get your site evaluated it will be 100% rated negatively for points
    - toolbar hard to remove and slows down computer (proof)

    Summary

The entire system is flawed and needs a revamp, the company has located themselves in Finland to be able to try to have less liability and protection from lawsuits.

Beware of the toolbar, it WILL slow your computer down and give you false reports on legitimate sites

"Probably a good idea initially but now fatally flawed"

    November 4, 2012  |   By pjdoehring

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Firefox 20120926

    Pros

There certainly is a need to protect users against misleading or fraudulent sites.

    Cons

WOT's "review" is based on a cursory evaluation of the site - any suspicious keywords lead it to be flagged by the raters, who then refuse to change their ratings even when presented with evidence to the contrary... I was trying to help a friend whose fundraising site was "flagged"... when this was appealed, a response was returned immediately even though the "expert raters" did not even go beyond the home page. A great idea initially, but clearly the developers are overwhelmed by the demand, and lack the time and resources to do a good job.

    Summary

Sadly, you can no longer trust WOT - problems with the rating and review system now make this site worthless

    "Untrustworthy Site"

    October 19, 2012  |   By fordcapi

Version: WOT (Web of Trust) for Firefox 20120926

    Pros

    none at this time

    Cons

-buys facebooks fans for their site
    -dropped by facebook
    -fraudulent reviews on mywot website

    Summary

MYWOT has now been shown to BUY FACEBOOK likes from two suppliers online.

MYWOT, a small company who has recently been caught buying Facebook likes from two suppliers online has had 24% of their likes removed by FACEBOOK.

Facebook also has since removed MYWOT as a partner due to unscrupulous activities found to be " not trustworthy" by Facebook executives.
" The decision to cancel our relationship with MYWOT is unfortunate, however, Facebook has found evidence of manipulation of companies on the MYWOT system. Facebook acknowledges that MYWOT has a open forum rated by internet peers, however the ranking system has substantial flaws. " Google executive Matt Cohler states.
Matt Cohler continues to state that " Facebook will be more careful in the future in regards to partnering with companies such as MYWOT."

MYWOT has been falling in popularity over the past 12 months as more and more and more users realize that their rating system is systematically flawed.
