"Simple Signal Strength Bar Meter"
Version: WIFI Signal Strength 1
Pros
The program is simple. It provides a simple graphical and numerical representation of signal strength. The program takes up very little harddrive space. It is very responsive to changes in signal strength and seems to be quite accurate.
Cons
I have no complaints. People who expect more bells and whistles might be disappointed; since, the simple program is designed to do only one thing (which it seems to do it quite well).
Summary
Overall, I am very pleased with the program. I wanted a simple piece of software which provided me with a numerical and graphical representation of wifi signal strength; and, this program does exactly that. This program provides me with useful information to assist me when I am attempting to move my laptop to a location for improved wifi signal strength.
It was designed for Windows 2000 and XP; and, it is possible that the people who had problems with the program used it with an operating system other than Windows 2000 or XP.
The program is extremely simple to set up. There is no installation required. Simply place a copy of the downloaded program into the folder of your choice on your computer's harddrive and click on it to run. The program creates a blue-tinted semi-transparent rectangular display, which initially appears at the upper right corner of the screen when the program is first started. It lists the SSID of the wifi signal to which your computer is currently connected; and, it displays the signal strength as a bar meter and as a percentage. The user can use his or her mouse to move the display to any screen location of the user's liking. And, the user can click on the red "X" in the display's upper right corner to turn the program off. That is all! No computer program could be more simple to use. -

"This didn't work for me."
Version: WIFI Signal Strength 1
Pros
I have no pros for this software
Cons
I can't say anything good about this. The interface is blocky, but beyond that it didnt work with my setup. At the time of this posting, I have a signal strength of around 75% yet this software shows 0% and reads "SSID: Error"
Summary
Bottom-line is... you might get lucky to get this to work... then again, you might not.
