"Works as expected"
Version: Vista Services Optimizer 1.1.42.2
Pros
*Manual Mode
*Easily explains what services are attached to what programsCons
*Automatic mode is to general
Summary
Basically all this program does is allow you to turn off windows services by telling it what you will and will not use. This is something you can do with services.msc or msconfig on your own but the interface makes it simple to know exactly what each service is for. It also speeds up the process by not making you turn off each service one by one for a particular use because it will instead ask you a simple question (i.e. Do you share files over a network?). I rate this 4/5 because it does very easily let you adjust services and optimize Vista but does not do anything that you couldn't do yourself.

"Made my unbearably slow laptop very bearable."
Version: Vista Services Optimizer 1.1.42.2
Pros
Easy to use. Create a profile based on the questions you're asked and then use it. Can always revert to original settings if necessary.
Cons
Nothing to complain about. I wish there was a 1-click setting from the tray to switch profiles.
Summary
The bottom line: my laptop was unbearably slow before VSO. I noticed a big improvement afterward.

"Unsung App Deserves Attention in Doing a Great Job"
Version: Vista Services Optimizer 1.1.42.2
Pros
Competently ameliorates Vista's overwrought programming that's been a giant step backwards in the evolution of the OS. Combined with an extended online how-to guide on the best Vista tweaks, you'll end up wondering why users hate Vista.
Cons
If you have Vista Services Optimizer running at start-up you won't be able to reconfigure the program only after deleting it from the Start Up Manager and rebooting.
Summary
The program describes itself innocently enough as a much needed tool to help overcome the bloated, overwrought monstrosity it is
As an avowed Microsoft hater, Vista has proven something I thought was impossible that indeed I could manage to despise Microsoft more than I had. Vista Services Optimizer seems to be the perfect tool,
weapon specially created by Microsoft haters for Micrsoft haters like myself, having installed it in a fiery rage against Microsft after a series of incidents over several weeks where a slew of Vista-inspired hindrances, obstacles to enable the simplest tasks that my computer had refused to comply with had me livid beyond belief.
After having thought the worst of Vista's steep -learning curve was finally behind me, the worst most annoying aspect of Vista was the last straw. I saved several images found at Google on my desktop I had planned on uploading as my avatar at this new site but the images never uploading properly wondering why, until I noticed that Vista had blocked the images that were on my desktop from uploading to the site with a message that emphatically convinced me i want no part of Microsoft ever again. Images you downloaded may have originated from another computer that acquired the images illegally. or something to that effect. And that my friends was the last straw for me. -
"FAILED WITH ERROR"
Version: Vista Services Optimizer 1
Pros
Nothing that I can see.
Cons
Crashed half way with an error. I have no idea what services have been stopped and there's no way to undo the changes. Now my system is unstable and sluggish, the opposite of what was promised. I will likely have to reinstall Vista (not pretty).
Summary
Stay away from this.
