"Its cool - if you're no fool"
Version: Virtual Network Computing 3.3.7
Summary
OK so this isn't just an install and go bit of kit and does require some knowledge of networking (and only a *little*). A great bit of kit to use in a secure firewalled environment, and even outside if you have the right security like routers and hardware firewalls like my Dreytek. I WISH PEOPLE WOULD READ DOCUMENTATION BEFORE LEAVING NEGETIVE COMMENTS. 100% thumbs up to the developers who have made my life MUCH easier for years!!!

"Great on my LAN"
Version: Virtual Network Computing 3.3.7
Summary
I use VNC on my LAN. I don't trust it off the LAN because it isn't encrypted. For off LAN access I recommend another free utility logmein, since it's encrypted an firewall friendly.

I have used tons of remote programs because I really need one but none of them are working.
This one does not work on my PC.

"Great App"
Version: Virtual Network Computing 3.3.7
Summary
This is a great application, we use it on the network at work for remote administration. Its also very useful for running a server at home, if you don't want to shell out the cash for a KVM ;)

"Security issues"
Version: Virtual Network Computing 3.3.7
Summary
VNC is not encrypted (in fact passwords are sent in clear text). While security should be important to everyone, I work at bank where it is especially important. I researched several free alternatives and found that LogMeIn was the only free product that was both easy to use and secure. I highly recommend that anyone considering VNC also take a look at LogMeIn.
