"it works! and it beats micro$oft movie maker!"
Pros: having searched for a couple of years for a decent m$ movieMaker alternative, i gave this a try.
i am primarily making video clips for our business so i am using aca screen recorder. this seems to be the only movie editor that works with captured screen recordings.
1) it works
2) it is very easy to use
3) it is packed with useful features
4) it seems to take any video format you can throw at it
5) the final results look very professional
Cons: the current version is lacking some features i would appreciate, but it appears the new beta versions deal with all of these. i suspect anything i wanted will be there.

"Not better than Windows Movie Maker"
Pros: I disagree with what other reviewers had to say. I really couldn't find anything so good about the software. There are so many disappointing bad points when compared to WMM.
Cons: 1) Takes 3 times longer than WMM (Windows Movie Maker) to import and up to 10 times longer to render file
2) Does not allow adding of subtitle
3) WMM has much more features than this and is free
4) To editors: WMM hang because you did not uncheck compatibility filters in option menu under tool.
5) You cannot even adjust the volume of the imported audio(!)
6) You cannot even fade out a simple audio(!)
After using it for 2 days I was so fustrated I uninstalled it and cleared all registry traces.

Version: Virtual Edit 1.25
Pros: Can use many file types
Cons: Constantly crashes. Not intuitive. Lousy instructions. And after you've spent hours working on a project in the test version, it tells you that most of your work won't be saved unless you buy the program.

Version: Virtual Edit 1.25
Pros: Seems to have a ton of intuitive features, possibly something that the seasoned user may be into.
Cons: I'll never know, as both tests went horrendously wrong. Test 1 was with an avi file that plays fine in my media player, but in the test, the video began to flicker and finaly went out completely in both preview and after rendering. Went through the help menu and tried a couple different setting tweaks to no avail. 2nd test was a .mov file straight from my camera, but the frames/per/second rate was incompatible with the program. Perhaps the error is on my side, but I'll never know.
