"Did the trick perfectly for me"
Version: Virtual Drive Creator 3.0.1
Pros
Lite version is free for personal use which was all I needed and it worked perfectly;
Simple to use.Cons
Not initially intuitive to use but in a few minutes it can be figured out
Summary
Used this to backup a data file from an old program I still use that would only allow backup to a floppy drive. I could not even upgrade my old software and import to a newer version so the only option I had was to lose all my old financial data and start from scratch. Not to mention I didn't need all the features of the newer version let alone the cost to upgrade it. I almost purchased a USB floppy drive but was not sure it would work. I did have a USB flash drive so I went looking for a virtual drive emulator. After installing the Lite version and a few clicks to see how things worked, it seemed straight forward and did exactly what I needed it to do i.e. map a USB flash drive as a virtual A: drive. Easy, simple, done, it worked and my old financial software was happy. And the Lite version is free for personal use. I looked at a couple other virtual drive emulators and they were worthless and didn't seem to play well with Vista. This installed perfectly on Vista platform and did what I needed it to do. I'm happy. Thanks for the great software. I'm sure it does other things but this is what I needed it to do and it did it. I'm going to try to use it to trick iTunes into backing up my iTunes Library to an external drive since iTunes only likes CD/DVD drives for backup. Wish me luck.
