Version: Virtual DJ software 5
"Don't waste your time with this one."
Pros: I liked the reviews enough to try it out, that was a mistake. Which is really sad, because I was looking forward to messing around with it a little.
Cons: Look, I bought my first mixer about 10 yrs. ago, for $80 or something. Granted it wasn't great either, but compared to thisi virtual dj junk it was outstanding. This thing keeps freezing up on me, the sound effects are lame and you can't even get a decent loop on it, they are way too short, unless I missed something. Please don't buy this thing, for a little more $, you can get a decent rig and really have some fun and actually learn to DJ. If they gave you more than a 20 day trial that would be nice to, I would probably have to spend more time than I can afford right now just to figure everything out. Name one professional DJ who uses this junk. But hey, It's free to try, so knock yourself out.

yup, he's used this and admits it. he loves it, so do Justice and others.
you're right about the price tag and trial period, but all those errors are not at fault with VDJ.
it's your computer. i'm running this on Vista, fool-proof. 2GB of RAM memory and plenty of HDDmemory. if you run an old pc, specwise or OS wise, it's time to upgrade.(not likely you're running 2000 or ME or lower, right?)
it's an intensive program, so it needs a lot of virtual memory. i mean a LOT. if you don't have enough RAM, it won't function properly. you can check this by running task manager, clicking performance, and looking at the graphs while you load and use VDJ. you'll most likely see the graphs spike, so if it goes over 90% you're no gonna get a well working program.
but yeah, there are a few better programs than this. more user friendly too.
