    "effective and easy to use"

    April 25, 2011  |   By a_mozelle

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

simple installation, no conflicts with other software that I can find (a big factor when using Vista), has never just stopped working with no explanation like Norton 360 sometimes did, minimal drain on resources

    Cons

none that I can think of, just waiting to move up to a firewalled version

    Summary

easy to install and use, runs smoothly, very fast boot time unlike Norton, no problems, and best of all very affordable. I've used Sunbelt products going back to CounterSpy and they've always worked just as advertised.

"Best antivirus and firewall I've ever tried"

    April 19, 2011  |   By bengairn

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

Smooth running, unobtrusive and gets all the bad guys without hogging all the memory resources.

    Cons

Latest version (Vipre 4) has a problem with Mozilla Thunderbird attachments. This was not present in earlier versions or Counterspy. Hope it will be fixed soon!

    Summary

I have tried several antivirus programmes before including Norton, McAfee, AVG and none of them can hold a candle to Sunbelt's Vipre. I particularly like the straightforward menues, simple set up and the frequent updating of the definitions. Most importantly, it does not slow down my notebook computer or cause any hangups of the system unlike some of the others. Service enquiries are attended to quickly and in easy to understand language, not that I've had to make too many!
I have recommended and installed Vipre on several friends computers and they are still good friends - you can't get a better recommendation than that!

"Always ahead of the bad guys"

    April 18, 2011  |   By mlr_in_capitola

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

Lightest AV out there. Best (live!) customer service and tech support.

    Cons

Sometimes too good, and I have to explain I want to do this!

    Summary

I've been a beta tester for Vipre since the beginning, and, believe me, after using all the other AVs (big and small) at one time or another, I haven't found anything comparable. It always knows when something bad is around and lets you know. My system(s) - my wife's flower shop is completely covered as well as my home system - never exhibit any bad behavior. If I use any other AV to test the sanctity of mine system, I never find anything with it, either. Just the best.

"If you own a computer, you NEED Vipre AV software."

    April 16, 2011  |   By justgeo1

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

I've used Vipre for many years, and before that I used their Personal Firewall and the CounterSpy programs. I've only gotten viruses if someone in the house turns them off...

    Cons

The only con I have is that my family doesn't want to learn how to use the firewall to allow specific sites to get in...

    Summary

If I didn't have Vipre on my system, I'd still be looking for a good, functional AV program and I'd be running some other kind of anti-spyware program. And I'd be stuck with a firewall that only does half the job.

"The first av prog I ever payed for!"

    April 16, 2011  |   By miklosnz

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

It works quietly, I have no problems with the firewall and it doesn't let me to go to sites with dangerous content on it.

    Cons

The E-mail filter doesn't seem to be very cooperative. I have tried it with TheBat and Barca (PocoMail) with a Gmail account and if it is on, no mails can come through. (Maybe just I don't know how to setup it but then it isn't easy to setup.)

    Summary

My licence will expire soon. I will renew it.

"Viper- - best on the market"

    April 16, 2011  |   By spankyjo54

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

I have had Viper for a long time. Firs the Antivirus and the malware. When the two were put together I was glad they had done that and when the Firewall was added
I was more than happy to pay for the pro version and for more than 1 computer.

    Cons

I have no complaint against this software. It is not only less expensive than NOrton, McAfee and others but covers much more for the money.

    Summary

Greatest software ever invented to help keep us safe on the Internet. It should have 10 stars.

"Counterspy on steroids & very effective"

    April 16, 2011  |   By march777

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

Active protection works, low resources, great customer service experience, great value fpr price point. It simply works

    Cons

Deep scans take a long time and there isn't a version for MS Home Server.

    Summary

Active protection saved me a few occasion by blocking intrusions. On one occasion I clicked pop-up notice mistakenly thinking it was a Vipre notice. After I clicked it I was infected. Vipre cleaned most of the infection however, there was one file that Vipre could not remove or quarantine. I contacted customer service and they spent close to two hours cleaning my system of a rootkit. The individual that cleaned my system followed up two times over following two weeks to see if my system was still clean. Oddly, my brother picked up the LizaMoon infection this week and spent $94 to have someone come to his house to recover his system (he is using Microsofts AV program. I started using Counterspy in 2003 along with Trend Micro and converted to Vipre when it was launched. My wife and each have a deasktop and notebooks, the two boys have desktops, one has notebook and we have Vipre on all of them. If there was a Vipre version for MS Home Server there would be one system in the house running Vipre.

"Switched to Vipre over a year ago and never looked back"

    April 16, 2011  |   By cmadary

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

Uses minimal resources, minimal system slowdown, very effective in catching threats, definitions are automatically updated often, price is very reasonable, regularly informs of latest PC security news via e-mail, once set up runs on its own.

    Cons

Having difficulty getting Vipre to scan my Thunderbird e-mails. Other than this, no problems at all.

    Summary

Prior to using Vipre I had used the well-known antivirus products and they slowed my PC down to a crawl. Vipre is hardly noticeable and pretty much runs on its own. I would recommend (and have recommended) Vipre to anyone that is searching for a better and more efficient antivirus product than the "big dogs".

    "Top Notch Program"

    April 16, 2011  |   By geekguy1

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

    Very efficient running, intuitive UI.

    Cons

The THOROUGH scan can take several hours, but it shows how well the product works because all it ever has found have been low-priority tracking cookies.

    Summary

I've been using them since CounterSpy days and can't imagine being without their protection.

    "Efficient and effective"

    April 16, 2011  |   By totrecal

    Version: Vipre Antivirus 4.0.3904

    Pros

You hardly know you have protection on the system. Unless you happen to stumble into bad stuff. There is that little "V" on my task bar, and it changes color once in a while. I never seem to be waiting for Vipre though.

    Cons

Sometimes I can't get Vipre to let me onto sites that do not appear to be malicious.

    Summary

For the annual fee it's well worth it to know my internet connections won't be compromised. I do way too many sensitive transmissions over the net to be getting hacked. Vipre is the best ever.
