    "Indispensable!"

    January 12, 2008  |   By lotsajargon

    Version: Videobox 2.4.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I started with FLVR and just started using Videobox. I have tried other products for downloading Flash video, but many don't work on Chinese sites that I frequently use for my research and teaching. Videobox like is predecessor does so flawlessly.

This little program is indispensable for my research and teaching! Thanks to TastyApps I have a huge and growing collection of clips.

And, for the love of God why not by it--it is so cheap!

I loved this app when it was a plug in and I love it more even now. It is indispensable for saving video files that you fear may not be around forever to view on the Internet.

The developer is helpful, appreciative and found something truly useful to develop.

    BRAVO!!!!

    "Great product!"

    Version: Videobox 2.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Like other reviewers, I was disappointed when FLVR disappeared from my Safari tool bar, but TastyApps was quick to fix the problem. Although this program is a standalone app and less convenient (through no fault of TastyApp's), it actually works better than the old app. I really depend on the product to download videos for use in classroom settings when Internet is not available. TastyApp's customer service was quick and friendly. Keep up the good work, guys!

"Great transition from FLRV to Videobox"

    Version: Videobox 2.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was saddened to discover FLVR could not be used on Safari with Leopard. But the guys at Tasty apps worked around it. Videobox downloads are faster than FLVR. The only thing is that it is not as handy not having the icon on the Safari menu tool bar but that is not their fault since Apple disable 3rd party Safari apps. I like the download speed that counts most! They were even great to transfer my paid license to Videobox!!!! Thanks for being there! Now if one can have an option of other video formats such as AVI that would be too cool!

I just got my new version 2.3 installed along with a new license for Leopard that was offered by Tastey apps. to previous owners without a charge. This is a small company that really cares about it's customers as far as I'm concerned. It's only $8, but multiply it 3000 times or more and that's a nice car that they're basically giving away for free. I've dealt with other software companies who went from V1 to V2 within matter of months and only gave a 10% discount which amounted to peanuts. Thanks for the upgrade. Not only is the application simple, but it works pretty fast and without any errors on Dual-Quad 3.0 Intel machine...

    "Relax"

    December 5, 2007  |   By janmast

    Version: Videobox 2.3

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Have been using this product since its extremely long pre-1.0 beta-phase up until now and it has always worked flawlessly.

I got a bit upset with the arrival of version 2 and the disappearance of the product FLVR and any related information sometime ago. Rumors that people had to buy a new license, rumors that it would no longer be integrated in Safari. And I really didn't want to pay again, after I just bought FLVR, a product that was doomed to die with the likely forthcoming 'Death of the Inputmanagers'.

So, I checked their FAQ, which clearly states that everybody with a v1 license could request a v2 license for free. Ok, I mailed the authors yesterday and surprise surprise : I have a new license in my mailbox today. They apologized for the hectic situation the past month and assured that they were getting back on track.

I hope that the trolls out there will fire up their mail.app and send these guys some proof of purchase. It would be surprising if they don't get back to you soon.

As for version 2.3 : the re-established integration with Safari is worthwhile, bringing the app back to speed. Nice.

    "They forgot to mention..."

This is NO longer FLVR: it doesn't look like that picture above anymore, doesn't integrate with Safari anymore, and you must copy & paste the URL into it (which doesn't always work on some websites).

I've been using CosmoPod now for a few weeks. It works wonderful & does what you are looking for out of this program. Do yourself a favor & try out CosmoPod. The trial is fully functional for a few videos, instead of only converting 3 minutes worth, like this stupid rip-off program (Videobox).

    "Don't touch me there."

    Version: Videobox 2.1b

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
"Videobox allows you to quickly and easily" I guess I missed that part.

There is a FREE add on video downloader for FireFox that's called "DownloadHelper". NOW that's what easy is so you guys aren't confused. Once downloaded you can double click on the file and EasyWMV converts it to QuickTime or you can open it in Quicktime and save as. Much easier and faster then all these standalone video downloaders.

FLVR was kind of OK and tried to work in the same way, but fell short and I think they even wanted money for it. I don't use the Safari app just for this reason. Now they make it into a standalone and gave it a new name. Like that's going to work.

The ONLY way to add a URL to this is to drag and drop, that means you have to drag your browser to half screen and put this apps window at the botton to drag the URL onto it's window, instead of having an option to add a URL. You call that easy. That's called retarded. You want 8.00 for something that people can already have for FREE that blows this away. That's called stupid and greedy.

If this worked exactly like the "DownloadHelper" plugin in FireFox, Maybe even have QuickTime conversion prefs options, I would pay the 8.00 reluctantly.

As it stands now, I wouldn't use it for the bottom of a bird cage.

It's your choice, be the object of every womans lust, or a nerd named Gates that shoots golden flying monkeys out of his ass.
