    "If it worked at all"

    December 31, 2012  |   By RageZro

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

    None as it never worked

    Cons

Crashes on loading any AVI video

    Summary

Using the free version or maybe better stated trying to use the free version as it catastrophically crashes each time I load an AVI video. I also noted others here stating the free version lasts only 14 days, NCH's website states it never expires. See: http://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/kb/free.html
Won't matter to me if it does as it doesn't work. Too bad I liked using their WavePad years ago.

    - Accepts and exports in many, many different files.
    - Standard effects are pretty cool.

    - Unhelpful tech support

    Summary

All in all, you're better off using Videopad then Windows Movie Maker.

"Great software, but preview screen doesn't work."

    October 3, 2012  |   By chloeclee

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

The worksurface and timeline view was great. It had plenty of effects and transitions and was fast playing. It saved quickly and was able to used FLV AVI and WMV files.

    Cons

The preview screen was grey. It would play the sound of my clip but not the footage itself. The preview would only work if i right-clicked it and then i would only be able to see it for a few seconds. I am not the only person who has had this problem so I know it is not my clips, because WMM, Magix, Pinnacle, PowerDirector ect. Had no trouble displaying my clips, so I know that is not the case.

    Summary

Would be great and easy to use, if only the preview screen worked. As at the moment it only displays grey.

    "Does everything I need, easily."

    September 28, 2012  |   By GarySonnenberg

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

Free. Easy to edit mp4 files. Cuts down the size of mp4 files taken from my Sony Bloggie.

    Cons

None for me, but I don't have big demands.

    Summary

I downloaded the version that had a 14-day trial. I learned from NCH that you have the option to keep it forever for free if you start to uninstall it and select the downgrade option. Nice!

As far as Conduit, yes, it's there, but you can easily uninstall that too from Control Panel.

"Put simply it blurs your video"

    September 18, 2012  |   By UrbanRetreat

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

Easy to use and easy to brand your name on the video

    Cons

Whenever adding a clip to this program it just blurs it. I tried different things but it was always very hard to read words after adding the video to this program.

    "Pretty Darn Good"

    September 13, 2012  |   By mscheuerman

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

VideoPad Pro has a very nice user interface that is generally quite intutive. The ability to manipulate and manage multiple audio tracks makes putting together a great multimedia video/presenation a snap. Linking text overlays with video segments allow one to add segments at random and then drag and drop them to where they should be on the timeline is easy. Multiple effects for each segment provides the editor with and easy way to add interest and color to the video. The output options cover just about any venue one might think of from blu-ray to YouTube.

    Cons

There are a couple of things in the UI that could use some work. The zoom sliders for viewing individual frames are a difficult to work with and it would be nice if there was an option for zooming to X number of frames on the preview timeline. The options for text management are a little weak in that effects list is not nearly as extensive as the video effects. The text sizing slider doesn't allow for setting specific font sizes so it's a little difficult to get all the text to be consistent through out the video.

    Summary

This is a very good piece of sofware and for an amateur film maker, has a very wide assortment of tools that should satisfy most anyone's needs.

    "..Okay, But Not the best"

    August 30, 2012  |   By TheKillerMan

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

The interface is simple, and is a brushed up version of Windows Movie Maker.
The shortest and fastest uploading and render time I have ever seen.

    Cons

It lacks what other softwares have. (Not much you can really do with it without using more effort than you need.)
There is a bug were if you make a video only with pictures, it only displays the picture for a mili-second. And if you have multiple, it skips photos for some reason. (I can't deduct if it's the program or youtube doing this)
The youtube uploading is buggy. It does not have many resolutions to choose from and the HD selection isn't even HD! Only 480p
-Along this, it tends to fail on uploading, and doesn't even have a restart button.
Malware/Viruses. This program actually tried to give my computer a virus. I don't know what causes it, but thank heavens for anti-virus.

    Summary

If it's free, it's not always better.
And you are better off with Windows Movie Maker than this!

"Gives more sharpness per MB than Windows Movie Maker"

    August 29, 2012  |   By Haggstrom

    Version: VideoPad Video Editor 2.41

    Pros

As experienced by the 15-day trial using mp4 and flv-files to make mp4 files, this program gives you the ability to join and edit video files of various file formats and aspect ratios. The end product of mp4 has a much greater image sharpness per MB than the wmv rendered by Windows Movie Maker.

The Home Edition, which purportedly includes everything except limit of 2 simultaneous audio tracks and no external plugs, costs $40.

    Cons

The preview window is a bit small.
