Pros: everything, plays avi's without additional downloads, everything just works
Cons: i wish i could play .wmv files through firefox with it

Version: VLC media player 0.8.2
Pros: This software covers all formats of video, including VOB which are DVD files. The volume control is much better than Quicktime and allows a louder volume, even without the EQ enabled which is also fantastic. It caters for widescreen, especially for DVD playing.
Cons: The error messages get annoying for skipped frames, but this can be disabled

Pros: even plays 2 rocks banging together format.
I love it,get a lot of exotic codec movies,VLC never let me down.
Cons: before 0.8.1 player could hang,
