    "Great, simple shopping list"

    March 15, 2011  |   By druvis45

    Version: Upvise Shopping Lists 1.7

    Pros

    Simple, easy to set up

    Cons

Web application could be a little more user friendly

    Summary

This is a great application for people who want a simple shopping list. Setting up the online account was quick. Downloading to my blackberry and setting up the application took a few minutes, then I was up and running. Most important, there are no banner ads online, or in the app.

    "Good shopping list app."

    November 21, 2009  |   By TeresaYD

    Version: Upvise Shopping Lists 1.7

    Pros

Simple to use. Nice look. Good interface.

    Cons

    No undo feature (see summary).

    Summary

SETUP-Setup and use are easy, especially if you create your "free" account on a computer first. If you plan to create long lists or have several shopping lists, i.e. groceries, I recommend you create that on a computer first too. If you just have a short list then typing directly into your phone is ok. Syncing is automatic and quick between your phone and your computer. You can also create a link on your desktop directly to your list.

IMPORT/EXPORT-You can import/export csv files from your computer. This too is easy and intuitive. Importing is helpful if you already have a list on your computer and don?t want to retype it. If you do plan to import your list, you should test a couple of items first to see if your layout works and it picks up all your information. If it doesn?t or you have problems, create a ?test item? in you upvise list then export it to your computer. Then use that file?s layout as your template.

QUIRKS-When entering new items the drop boxes would not display established items. Example if Aisle 1 was already setup, it would not show up in the Aisle drop box and I would have to enter it as a new item. Or, I?d have to save the entry which automatically closes it then select it again at which point the drop box displayed all the established items. This is annoying when building a large list.

FEATURES-The first time I used the list while shopping all went fairly well until I accidentally removed ?buy? items from my list when I unknowingly touched my touch screen. I went from 10 items remaining to 2. I learned: 1) there is no ?undo? function, I had to recall the items and select them again from my master list of over 200 items. 2) From the ?detail? level on the ?items to buy? there was no way to advance to the next item. Making updating details for items you are shopping for a hassle. (You can advance from the detail level with your master list.)

BOTTOM LINE this is a good app and once your lists are established it gets the job done.

    "MISLEADING"

    November 21, 2008  |   By paul905

    Version: Upvise Shopping Lists 1.7

    Pros

    none. zero. zip.

    Cons

It says very clearly "Free" and "No Limitations" in the product description but there is no operability when you install.

    Summary

You have the choice to login or create an account or try the demo. The demo forces you to create an account first.
The first thing it does is try to connect out to a server. I don't trust this.
Why do I have to create an account to use a "demo" for a FREE product that has NO LIMITATIONS?
And why does it need to connect to a server just to let me try to enter a short shopping list to test the product?
    I deleted it right away.
