Uplink manages to offer exciting gameplay without any 3D graphics or gun-firing action; and the demo leaves you wanting more. It puts you in the role of a hacker who's trying to make a name for himself by pulling off jobs without getting caught. A couple of instructional early jobs teach you the rules of how to get into a system, and pretty soon you're racing against the clock to download hidden top-secret files before the company's tracking system catches you. We liked this game a lot for its overall feeling of breaking into a computer system with a dark and dramatic gameplay experience. Early on, it is a little difficult to figure out how the gameplay system works, but before long we found it becomes second nature. Overall, Uplink does a great job of making you feel like you're hacking into major computer systems, and most serious gamers will almost definitely enjoy it.
