"Simple and effective unlocker."
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
It does what it says on the tin, with no hassle and minimum resources.
Cons
The adware included in the package. Fortunately, you can choose not to install it.
Summary
If there are files on your hard drive you want to move or delete and can't, this is what you need.

"Absolutely Fabulous!"
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
It does exactly what it says it will do. Unlocks all those pesky "Access is denied" Windows problems. The folks who say it is spyware or malware did not read all the "offers" that come with the installation. They just clicked "Next". Warning to the downloading "weedheads" out there. When you are downloading free programs, read all the stuff and uncheck the boxes before clicking "next". If you skip this step with this download, you will get some unwanted programs. I do not know what you will get because I unchecked the boxes before downloading and installing.
Cons
None, if you read the instructions and chose carefully.
Summary
I am an expert PC user. Before this program, I had to go into Windows Permissions and reassign ownerships, etc. This programmakes the reassignment easy, and I can delete files, folders, and all else with ease. Thanks Unlocker!

"Loaded with malware - stay away!"
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
None. I can't believe this is available on CNET.
Cons
It didn't work and totally screwed up my system. It installs some horrible shopping tool that causes words on a web page to get underlined and pop-up links to shopping sites. Total crap!
Summary
Do not download this. Seriously.

"Doesn't work"
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
None that I can see
Cons
Does not work
Summary
Just does not work. Right clicking on a file does not give an "Unlocker" menu item
-
"Unlocked itunes files to allow me to uninstall itunes"

Summary
Easy to use

"Easy2Use, does what it says"
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
It is a really powerful, handy and easy -2- use programm. I love the right click feature which just enables you to use it fast and easy
Cons
It takes some time for it to start-up (at least on my lap top)
-
"DO NOT USE THIS"
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
None since it was not able to unlock a file or tell me who had the lock on it (reboot fixed the problem).
Cons
After downloading this program discovered it had automatically installed some software to hijack browser links that would pop up with a link the yellowpages. Running malwarebytes found Unlocker had added this software in the registry.
Summary
Essentially unlocker installs malware. DO NOT USE THIS. There are probably other apps that do the same thing.
-
"No any problem, moreover it solves problems. Excellent."
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
Helps to access 'files in use' if such situation occurs. The rest of time it invisible at all.
Cons
During years of use, working as professional almost 24 hours a day on internet, I didn't find any con's. Except some false positive warnings which should be ignored, for sure.
Summary
Useful little tool - great help
-
"Do not blame the software for bloatware."
Version: Unlocker 1.9.1
Pros
Excellent, removes all hooks from Windows Explorer and can delete, move, rename the file(s) without the need to restart.
Cons
It can only remove hooks from files in/visible in normal file explorer. It can not remove quarantined files from the program ComboFix, or any anti-virus quarantine folder.
Summary
CNet is the file host so have the right to add bloatware. The version here is the 32b version, visit file details for the software site to download the 64b version. The Windows 32b will not show up on the context menu of Windows 7/8 64b.
Odd Jeff.bassler must feel the need to reply three times. But he was correct only once. The version here is a 32b version. Click the, 'File Details', link for the software site to download the 64b version (no bloatware). Install the program, reboot. No admin priveledge required, no file property editting as JB suggested.
