"A handy tool for downloads, printing proofs and pics."
Version: Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5
Pros
Mostly this is fairly easy to use for dealing with weeding out things quickly when downloading the camera. I use it also for making proof sheets with identifying titles/image numbers for quick reference, and making prints. Works well for such tasks
Cons
Fitting prints to their pre-defined full-page sheets is a bit challenging, but a little experimenting can point the way.
Summary
Inexpensive and reliable. I messed up my early version (ver. 7) and am grateful that Corel has been making ver. 8.5 available, at least for a while.

"I would avoid this if given the choice"
Version: Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5
Pros
Nothing, I don't even want to run it
Cons
It installs without your permission and attaches to everything making it a nightmare to remove.
Summary
I have never knowingly installed this but must have been attached to another system. Now when I double click a jpg or other image it will load this (3 minutes later ) rather than my previously instant JPG viewer. It's dreadfully slow to start and worst of all I didn't ask for it, don't want it and can't get rid of it. This has slowed my productivity so much and I now will steer clear of anything associated with ULead.
There are some really good image viewers and editors. Paint.NET is best free editor around and Picasa from Google is miles better at viewing things quickly. -
"not very good"
Version: Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5
Pros
it shows media
Cons
crashes every 2 minutes on me
Summary
I dislike any product that crashes consistantly. Especially a paid product. I used Ulead Picture explorer in the days of Win98 and had no problems then. I wish I could just find that disk

"Best photo display software I've used."
Version: Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5
Pros
It has handled any photo file format I've asked it to. It is stable, never having initiated a crash - always a big plus. There are many display options that make using it very easy and intuitive.
Cons
The only feature I would like improved is burning a slideshow to DVD. What I would like is the ability to burn a reader on the DVD along with the photos that would act the same as Photo Explorer - letting me show multiple photos on the same screen.

"Stable, clean uncluttered interface and rich in features!"
Version: Ulead Photo Explorer 8.5
Pros
I've been using ACDsee for many years until I got fed up with how unstable the program is. This program looks very nice, it is quite stable and has many features worth checking out. My favourite feature is that when photos are downloaded from my Digital Camera, they are automatically renamed so that they it won't overwrite photos aready existing in the folder with the same name. A large program at over 20MB but quite stable, clean uncluttered interface and rich in features!
