"Software failed whilst writing to DVD"

    August 30, 2006  |   By stephendufton

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Pros

Very easy to use with a good interface. Impressive slide show features - especially zooming in and out of each slide - makes it seem like video rather than a still

    Cons

It takes a very long time to create an image to burn - expecially if you use the frills mentioned in "pros" above. Collaped at the end of the burn, corrupting the disk. Others have had this problem - see comments on amazon.

    Pros

This Is really nice software, the Interface Is nice and easy to understand.I was using Memories on TV and decided to give this one a try and trust me this Is much better than Memories on TV.Very professional looking results when you burn on Dvd or SVCD with this software.

    Cons

A little bit slow and lags once In while, but all Ulead products do that,Im not sure why. But nothing major.

    "One of the best"

    January 10, 2006  |   By deasluke

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Pros

I found this product one of the best photo slideshows out there and it's very easy to use and install. The features are great aswell as the customization. This product has the most support available out of any other photo slideshows available. The slideshow quality is excellent and worth the money.

    Cons

There aren't many publishing methods included in this product and not as many features as some others have. The price could be reduced as I don't think I would ever pay $50.00 for it but it's certainly worth a download. If you're looking for something like this but cheaper, I strongly recommend Proshow.

"Great at first glance but awkward with heavier usage"

    January 2, 2006  |   By mamaduckie

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Pros

I've been a long-time user and fan of Ulead programs. I've been using PictureShow for about 1-1/2 years in a light-hearted way and find it just as easy to use and intuitive as all the other Ulead products.

The program is affordable, easy to learn, and very stable.

    Cons

This Christmas I decided to make comprehensive slideshows to send out to family members. Though still intuitive and relatively easy-to-use, some serious short-comings have come to light. The program simply isn't robust enough and is very awkward to use for large projects.

I sure wish Ulead would rethink the way they've broken the program down into construction stages. The program would be much more effective if one could view, edit, and add text in a more natural flowing style. There's no easy way to view photos full size except by using the text pane -- which is a pain. And it's a real hassle to have to toggle back and forth from the "organize" to the "theme" functions. The reality is that users will want to see their progress complete with photos, music, and effects -- and then go immediately to make changes to a photo here or some text there. The way the program is designed, however, this switching from watching to editing is a long, slow, laborious process that will double the amount of time it takes to complete a project.

    "Pointless"

    December 30, 2005  |   By pglein

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Pros

    Seems easy to use

    Cons

I'm not sure if this applies to the paid version, but I don't see where it says that it doesn't, but it limits you to ten pictures and only 5 slideshows. What the heck is the point of making a DVD that is only 1/100th full? The slide show would only last about 30 seconds! That's completely useless.

"Great program, easy to use, many features-kind of slow"

    December 2, 2005  |   By timetest

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Pros

The program is very easy to use and user who stated that you are limited to ten photos in the full version is just wrong. I've created slideshows with far more than ten photos. Also tech support was okay. I emailed them with my problem and the solution was emailed back the next day.

    Cons

The program is EXTREMELY slow if you use certain special features such as Motion, Transition and pan & Zoom effects. Of course you wouldn't buy this program unless you wanted to use these type of features. They should make it clearer how slow the program is. A 1.28GB project took almost 2 hours to process on P4 3Ghz with a Gig of memory. Not neccessarily a huge issue as long as you know and can plan for the long processing time.

    "Ten photos maximum!"

    November 18, 2005  |   By Douglas398

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Pros

This is a great product. I find its easier to use and has more features than Nero. I really like the Pan and Zoom feature.

    Cons

This product is useless because its limited to ten photos per slide show. I asked customer support if this ten photo limit is just crippling of the free version and is limit same on the paid version. Customer support cannot answer this simple question. I spent many hours trying to answer this question myself before I "bothered" the customer service. I really liked this program and wanted to buy it, but ten photo limit and bad customer service makes it useless for me. I wasted a lot of time.

"The trial version is very basic -- Beware of no tech support from Ulead."

    August 31, 2005  |   By sing141

Version: Ulead CD & DVD PictureShow 4.0

    Cons

Since Ulead seems to be looking at these reviews maybe they will see this complaint. Ulead has poor tech support! I have Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3 and I've had problems with it since the beginning. I have tried getting help from their tech support but Ulead never replies to my emails and wants $1+ per minute for phone help. My problem with Movie factory 3 is not mine alone since I've found it listed in various DVD authoring chatrooms -- never with a solution.
