"Beside of the money, it is alone worth it"
Version: Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat)
Pros
Well, security, stability, community support, visuals, languages, cusomizability, and many -many- others. Also, firefox, Open office, opera, and many other available software runs much more smoother.
Cons
One thing only, If you come from the widow world, well... you'll just have to get accustomed to it.
Summary
Are you ready to face it? Dare to, nowadays it is much simpler, but without common users support, NGU-Linux is doomed. You are badly needed!
(why is this article so brief? have you seen the one about 7? It takes ages just to get to te comms.) -
"Forget it-stay with Windows."
Version: Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat)
Pros
None as for a start it would not even recognise my wifi connection, and so i could not use it only on wired broadband.
Cons
Not user friendly like Windows and puts a lot of impotence on passwords. And there is no option to remove password. So every time you log, change settings, install software you must enter your password.
Summary
We do not realise how lucky we to have Windows on our computers. On all versions of Windows XP,Vista and 7,you can set your computer to do what you want it to. You do not have to log in with any password or enter any password when you want to change settings, unless you want to. You can also install any web browser or software you want to on Windows. But on Llinux this is not the case.I got so irritated having to enter my password for every little thing that i did, install packages, change settings, view my files etc. I hated that and there was not way to disable or remove this very annoying featue like on Windows. Also i could not install any software from the Internet only what was provided in the packages. And most of the web browsers are out of date. No Firefox 3612,just 361 no flock browser either-Why not?And it would not recognise my Wifi connection. And I had to install Ubuntu on virtal clone drive as wulbi install did not work. I have tried jolicloud, linux mint and Kubuntu, installed alongside Windows. But Linux just does not work for me. It is not at all user friendly. There is no choice of software like on windows and no control over your own computer either. You cannot even remove your password or disable security settings like you can on Windows. And I found Linux very slow. All of these things makes me glad that I have Windows 7 and not Linux on my computer. And as I installed the Llinux operating systems alongside Windows. Of course I uninstalled it when I realised it was just a waste of space on my computer hard drive. All of these issues makes Linux a second or even third class operating system compared to Windows. And is why Linux will never be as good as Windows. My advice is stay with windows, you are better off.
