Pros: It lets me set shortcut keys to disconnecting usb drives for simplicity.
It tells me what programs are using the drive so I can remove them safely.
This program rocks.

Version: USB Safely Remove 2.5
"a must have for frequent usb users!"
Pros: this program is indespensible if you frequently swap USB devices. It picks up the slack where windows xp/vista "safely remove" tool falls short. this program is what microsoft should have provided and more. I tried out the older version several months ago and loved it, and now the newer version is even better, there are also several interesting functions that honestly many people will not need (such as command line integration), but they arent in your face and cluttering up the screen, which is a big plus as much software is becoming excessively bloated these days.
The tool included with windows is sorely lacking some features such as the ability to name devices (you dont have to scratch your head anymore and wonder what the heck the 'IBC-7092-USBen-2a' device is) and the ability to hide devices is a major perk (i dont have to see my printer or USB wireless adapter listed anymore!). It has a small memory footprint and wont make a big dent in your systems resources.
Cons: A note on there site says the price is going to go up another 10 dollars in the next month (from 14.95), the new price seems a little excessive. There is a nifty pop-up menu that shows USB devices when you click on the tray icon -- i wish it were skinnable. The ability to run a file upon connecting a device and removing it is a great concept but it should not be a global setting, it should be a per device setting (seeing as how it saves other settings for devices, like name and icon, it should have no problem doing this).
