    "Time Lag??"

    September 13, 2004  |   By chromedome

    Version: TypeIt4Me 2.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Anyone else noticing a time lag in this latest version? I find that unless I pause after typing in a trigger, I lose the next 1 or 2 characters I type. This didn't seem to be an issue in version 1. Using a DP450 G4... is the slower processor likely to be an issue (though I don't feel it should be)??

    "Amazing software"

    September 6, 2004  |   By Fariborz Amirshahi

    Version: TypeIt4Me 2.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If you do a lot of repetitive typing then you owe it to yourself to buy TypeIt4Me. This amazing software sits aside silently and takes control only when a certain abbreviation is typed - extremely handy when you type business letters and repetitive phrases gobble half of your precious time. I can't recommend it enough! Fariborz Amirshahi - Verona (Italy)

    "great product, busy author"

    March 12, 2004  |   By m/hamilton

    Version: TypeIt4Me 1.0fc1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
My two cents: this is a great little app., which I've used for a while now. On occasion, yes, it takes the author a while to respond, but he does get back to you (he's got another job, works on TypeIt4Me early mornings and weekends, etc.). I think he's doing his best, and I accept that. Bottom line: this is a very handy, time-saver of a program. By the way, author is working on a new release.

"Never want to use my Mac without it!"

    November 7, 2003  |   By Deborah Shadovitz

    Version: TypeIt4Me 1.0fc1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Anyone who has read my old columns back in their day at MacCentral, or read my recommendation at the TypeIt4Me site, or attended any of my Macworld seminars knows that I love this app! I absolutely would not want to spend a day on my Mac without it. As I keep saying, "If you type your name one time a day, you're typing it one time too many."
In Jaguar there was an issue with it not sticking as a login item. That's gone in Panther, so you've always got TypeIt4Me on the ready at your service. I have not found any glitches at all in Panther. Go for it. Download this app. Then next time you type a somewhat often used phrase, save it into T4M, give it a shortcut, and never deal with typing that phrase again. You'll love it!

    "Uninstalling"

    October 5, 2003  |   By CCFx

    Version: TypeIt4Me 1.0fc1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The OSX version is a far cry from the OS9 version I think. Just like Default Folder, Quickeys, Keyboard Maestro (was Program Switcher) when they were first released. But those others have improved, and TypeIt4Me seems to still be as unpolished as ever.

I personally think the reason is that OS 9 was easier to "hack". The OS X version sometimes disables itself, or pastes incompletely. It just gets in my way more that it helps me now. --> I have removed it from my PowerBook. Sadly missed. Anyone know of impending betas, or similar alternatives.

    "Occasionally buggy"

    September 26, 2003  |   By JKT

    Version: TypeIt4Me 1.0fc1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Occasionally inputs the clipboard contents instead of the correct text for the abbreviation which is annoying but not a show-stopping bug. Agreed that it is a little trickier to use than it should be - I'd much rather it was a Dock item (or had the option of being one) than a menubar one as it takes up too much menubar space and often conflicts with my other menubar items. The Abbreviations Palette is also far too big and an option to activate it via a hot corner or equivalent ought to be introduced.

However, it is an invaluable tool to anyone who has to write e.g. scientific manuscripts or the like where inputting the likes of isopropylthiogalactoside day in day out is the norm!

    "disappointed"

    September 1, 2003  |   By JohnFC

    Version: TypeIt4Me 1.0fc1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.

I have been a registered Typeit4me evangelist for years, but OS X version is quite a disappointment. It is buggy, and a nuisance to use compared to the pre- OS X version. This is particularly apparent when I work in the Classic mode which works perfectly. The OS X version is slower and frequently an abbreviation expands the following item rather than the correct item. This happens whether the abbreviation is typed or the pull-down menu is used - i.e., the abbreviation expands to the next item in the abbreviation list. I also miss some of the features of the pre-OS X version such as being able to easily automatically expand the date.

I have sent several e-mails to Riccardo and just received his auto-response stating that he would get back to me soon - but he never has.

I imagine that it was not easy to modify Typeit4me for OS X. I hope Riccardo can improve the existing version so that it is less frustrating to use.

    "Has Problems"

    August 29, 2003  |   By dynvision

    Version: TypeIt4Me 1.0fc1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
    Hello,

When are you going to update the OSX version - I have the following problems:

    1. Have to retype abbreviation twice to get it to accept (Netscape Email: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Netscape/7.1)

    2. When it does accept the abbreviation it types out what is in the clipboard and not the proper text.

    3. Make program default to ON when booting the computer instead of having to select it each session.

I am migrating from the classic version and will not pay for this version until these items are fixed.

Please advise at your earliest convenience!
