"Working okay so far. I like it. Very useful"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.2.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Textpander no longer works for me, so I found out about Typeit4Me and so far it's working fine. It seems to have a few more controls than Textpander. However, I don't look forward to paying the $27 for it. Ten bucks would be more reasonable.
I did not find the document in the initial download from Version Tracker. I had to go onto the site to find it. When you first install the program, you might night know where to find it. The instructions on the site will of course show you. No help file comes with the download. -
"Excellent product"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.2.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Just wanted to comment that as a long-time user of this product I continue to find it indispensable both for correcting my many typos as well as expanding abbreviations. The developer's responses to my queries or problems have been very helpful and have always resulted in a better user experience for me with TypeIt4Me. I highly recommend it. -
"Wonderful typing aid"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.2
Summary

I've used this since system 7 (it might have been 6), and it continues to be as useful as ever. If you do a lot of serious typing, it does what it says, well and without trouble. -
"fixes tab bug of earlier versions"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is the first version for OS X that correctly expanded my abbreviations when they included tabs and returns. (I have it set to do my logins for me for various places: username, tab, password, return) Finally! -

"Wonderful"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.1b6
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I, like several other reviewers, have been using TypeIt4Me forever (well, March 1997).
I've always found the developer to be very responsive to suggestions and bug reports. This latest beta version removes, for, me a particularly annoying bug.
Riccardo, you probably ought include a help file in your beta versions in case a new user (or an old user who hasn't updated for a while) needs to make an installation. -
"Does Not Appear"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.1b6
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I installed TypeIt4MeX 2.1b6 on my Powerbook with 10.3.8 as instructed. Rebooted. Nothing. Read the instructions. Uh, WHAT instructions? Went to the developer's page. No help whatsoever. I've used TypeIt4Me many times in the past. So why is it impossible to use or even troubleshoot now? -
"Great program; insufficient explanation in 2.1b4"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.1b4
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using this program for almost ten years -- it's the single most important utility on my Mac. After the first OSX release, it didn't work as well as in OS 9, and the developer didn't do much for quite a while. Now he's actively working again and the program is *almost* where it should be. The 2.1b4 release is very quick in Eudora. In Powerpoint, where behavior was previously quite erratic, it seems to be much more reliable now. Although there is still an irritating delay before the expansion happens, the program no longer seems to lose keystrokes entered after the abbreviation, as it did previously. The developer says he canâ??t do much about the delay because of how Powerpoint handles text entry.
One issue: TWO component files are included in the download. Instructions don't mention this. The second, small file (TypeIt4Me.1.component) appears to be necessary for the program to work in Eudora.
All in all a fantastic program. Iâ??ve finally paid my registration fee, which I refused to do before version 2.0 came out because the 1.0 release worked so poorly. -
"Indispensible! Now works with MAC OS clipboard...."
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.1b3
Summary
...Faster too!
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
TypeIt4Me, CodeTek VirtualDesktop & CopyPaste are the must have applications for power users. TypeIt4Me now works with the MAC clipboard and no longer pastes the contents of the clipboard instead of expanding the intended abbreviation. -
"Slight step backward?"
Version: TypeIt4Me 2.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using TypeIt4Me for several years now, and I find it extremely useful. It does what it says it will, and the ability to use the same abbreviations file between the OSX and the OS9 versions is a great boon. All this is good. But I have a caveat. An earlier version of TypeIt4Me for OSX suffered from a problem whereby switching applications frequently caused the input keyboard setting to switch away from TypeIt4Me to another keyboard type (usually US or British, since I live in the UK). The next version fixed this, but the problem seems to have returned with TypeIt4Me 2.0. I regularly find that what should be the TypeIt4Me icon in the menu bar has reverted to a British keyboard icon, and I need to change it back in order to have TypeIt4Me active. This is a quite annoying. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else is seeing the return of this behaviour or whether it's just something I've done.
That said, I still find the utility incredibly useful and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
