Version: TuneUp Utilities 8.0.3100
"Does what it says"
Pros: Easy to use, improves system performance in a significant way. After I ran it, my system booted up much faster and had fewer nagging performance hiccups.
Cons: It costs money if you want to use it after 30 days. But you can always install it, optimize your system and then uninstall it without paying. There are probably some worthwhile continuing optimizations you'll lose out on though.
Summary: There are lots of optimizations possible on Windows systems. Just google windows services optimisation or something and you'll find lots of sites that will give you information on things you can do to improve your boot time and general responsiveness, especially if you are a home user. However, doing these optimizations takes time and care and you can screw your system up if you aren't careful. This appears to take care of many of these, as well as monitoring your startup for applications that force themselves into the startup sequence but don't need to etc. And most of this can be made virtually automatic if you want it to do that, or you can take control at the most detailed level if you want. And it doesn't bog your system down with one more thing at startup like some other utilities do. Seriously, I think you'll find its worth the money if you think your system isn't as responsive as you'd like or it used to be.
