    "SUCKS!!!!!"

    November 15, 2014  |   By saull28_

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 13.0.2020.14

    Pros

Cleans temporary and back up data and cleans windows installer directory and windows update patches, but while it is installed your Windows is a nightmare, all you want to do is get rid of i. Complicated interface, settings and usage.

    Cons

Don't even download TuneUp Utilities '13/'14/'15, this specific version, this piece of excrement will set your Windows 7 System Protection to 50% and and create and 1.87GB file in the 'System Volume Information' directory, all OK the thing is you can't NEVER disabled it, if you had it disabled like me, it'll be enabled; Windows gives you the option to eliminate the file and change the setting to 1% but after about 15 seconds, it'll be back to that setting, 50% and 1.87 GB file, TuneUp NEVER ASKS if you want this and THERE IS NO SETTING CONTROLLING THIS ****, uninstalling won't solve anything, you need to reinstall WIn 7 like I'm about to thanks to AVG A-holes.

Also many programs even when I have 'Application Deactivation' disabled looks like TuneUp tries to disabled Mozilla SeaMonkey and other programs while they're running and crash them annoyingly often, sometimes even Win 7 programs won't work like the Uninstall Wizard (appwiz.cpl)or Windows+Pause key combo.

    Summary

DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR AND NEVER USE THIS CRAP!

    Updated on Nov 23, 2014

Update: I got confused, the file that was being created was made by VirtualBox that came with my update to the latest Avast! AV, but after cleaning the registry my SeaMonkey couldn't even start, I had to uninstall and reinstall it twice, so anyway registry cleaners are dangerous, always let them make a backup of whatever they're modifying.

"KEEP CLEAR - NO SUPPORT - HAD TO REPLACE HARD DRIVE"

    October 8, 2014  |   By Aabaana

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.340

    Pros

The 'Pros' is: there are other software solutions out there - don't get within a barge-pole length of Tune-Up if you have any sense!

    Cons

I had this installed on two laptops and having checked a hard drive with which I had no problems with, my BIOS could no longer detect my hard drive. I spent TEN WEEKS and over £200 in phone calls to the USA trying - pleading - for help and was continually stone-walled! DO NOT TAKE A CHANCE, it;s not worth having to replace your hard drive or spend hundreds of pounds getting no help!

    Summary

I HOPE TUNE-UP CRASHES AS MY HARD DRIVE DID OH AND WITHOUT BEING SLANDEROUS - AS IT'S THE TRUTH, THEY LIE!

"Disk error scan makes your computer unusable"

    August 1, 2014  |   By jkirk1626

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.340

    Pros

Its utilities are mostly functional and effective.

    Cons

A scan for had drive errors remained stuck at 10% for 10 hours. The computer was unusable during this time. Powering off and restarting had no result without a recovery CD. TuneUp Utilities provides no warning of making your computer useless for 10 hours; it provides no warning that you will be unable to terminate the scan.

This is inexcusable and borders on the tort of conversion.

    Summary

Enjoy TuneUp Utilities leaving your computer stuck at 10% for >10 hours with the message: "scanning and repairing drive C:"

Search for "TuneUp Utilities" and you'll find results replete with customers reporting TuneUp Utilities' hard drive error scans leaving customers' computers stuck at some percentage and never recovering. AVG's response is that it's a Windows issue not a TuneUp Utilities issue. Really? Way to give an enormous FU to your customers. Worse, incompetent illiterate techs are telling people to do procedures on PCs while those PCs are stuck on AVG's software.

However good and effective TuneUp Utilities' other functions, this oversight and dismissiveness of users should be a deal breaker.

    "AVG owns Tune-Up now."

    July 25, 2014  |   By srk9

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.275

    Pros

I have used this program, with yearly updates, for many years. It used to be FANTASTIC.

    Cons

AVG has "F" rating with Better Business Bureau. That is relevant because AVG now owns Tune-Up. Shortly after AVG bought the company, Tune-Up changed. INDEED, it seems that the company pushes updates that actually break one's purchased software, with the only solution being to buy the newest version. I'm serious.

Indeed, I just found that not only did "updates" break TU 2013, but TU 2012 also was broken when the very newest updates were applied.

This is, I think, criminal activity.

    Summary

Avoid this product at all costs. Past performance means absolutely nothing. Take it from a long-time user.

If you have this program installed, DO NOT ALLOW ANY UPDATES.

    Updated on Jul 25, 2014

(P.S.: I have had precisely the kind of problems with tech support as others here.)

    "Frustrating customer support"

    June 22, 2014  |   By sagehillguy

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.296

    Pros

I am a simple home user so cannot actually comment on its usefulness. Having said that I hasten to add it seems to do what they say it will.

    Cons

Customer service for Windows8.1 sucks. I cannot get the disc defragmenter to move beyond the 10% mark. I have repeatedly emailed their customer service and they keep sending the same response on how to create a error file. I have explained there is no way to do this and then after my third email asking for another solution they have stopped responding. Be aware.

    "Troublesome"

    June 13, 2014  |   By 783jam

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.296

    Pros

    Ad blurb looks interesting

    Cons

Downloaded software, however it did not function satisfactory on my old Windows7 PC. I decided to deinstall it. I then found that I could not de-install it. Even tried a special de-install tool. Eventually had to do a system restore on my pc to remove the software. I am sure the company purposely make it very hard for a user to remove it. I wasted several hours. potential customers beware that they may have a de-install problem.

    Summary

Not worth the hassle if you are going to use the free download to try before you buy.

    "Avoid at all costs!!!"

    April 9, 2014  |   By gingjok

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.275

    Pros

    None whatsoever!!!!!!

    Cons

Constant freezing!! Not worth the money!!! Customer care is non existent!!!!

    Summary

This piece of crapware is not worth a single dollar!! It totally slows down boot up time. It absolutely swamps all over programmes on your computer! When you try to delay it on start up or even stop it running on start up, it automatically overrides the other software settings!! Upon start up it constantly freezes and takes about a minute before you can actually use it!! NEVER just run their cleaning programmes without checking!! What it says is unnecessary is actually something which is essential to the windows operation! On the last 2 software updates, the computer refused to reboot! Took countless attempts wasting a total of 15 minutes!!! It also affects the stability of other software on your computer as well! They also refuse to start up immediately!! Once I removed TuneUp Utilities 2014, everything went back to normal and the computer became very response again!! And to make matters worse, after getting in touch with customer care on 3 occasions!!! 10 days later they haven't replied in person!! Just those pathetic automatic replies!! As I write this review they still haven't been in touch.
I would never recommend this software to anybody and would avoid it at all costs!!! Try Wise Care 365 or Advanced Systemcare 7 Pro. Both of which you get fairly quick helpful replies from customer care. And they are not over intrusive and cause no serious damage to your computer.

    Version: TuneUp Utilities 2014 14.0.1000.275

    Pros

    Nothing to mention.

    Cons

What a piece of crap! Even if I selected in the OPTIONS for this piece of crap only to defragment the disk, it performed ALL the tasks anyway! I'm praying to God it hasn't messed up with registry and other computer settings. What a piece of crap.

    Summary

    Works uncontrollably.
