"AVOID THIS LOUSY THING. Made account just to say that."
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
Well, the nicest thing was, it eventually let me uninstall it through the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs dialog. That is to say, it didn't LET me uninstall it from its own uninstall option. It POPPED UP ANOTHER WINDOW ASKING ME TO BUY IT. BECAUSE I CLEARLY WANT TO PAY MONEY FOR IT WHEN I'M TRYING TO UNINSTALL IT. THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE. RRRRGGGHHH.
Cons
Firstly, it's clearly malware. Secondly, it's obviously malware. I could go on.
Thirdly, it's depressing, because it shows that we are still at a point in human informational development where elderly, easily frightened computer users constitute a sufficiently lucrative customer pool for these umpteen gazillion janky "maintenance" programs.
And also depressing that CNet let this one through, whether by bribery or simple inattention. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this one, but I hope someone upstairs is asking someone else some questions here.Summary
Even if this program actually does anything beneficial to your machine after installing, the way it pester-markets itself, including the ol' "I-respawn-from-your-RAM-if-you-try-and-close-me-down" trick, makes it unquestionably malware. I kinda feel sorry for whoever developed the legitimate, working parts of the program. As a coder, I'd hate it if all my hard work were shackled to something as shady as this.

"Malignant Garbage"
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
None that I could tell - the utility told me that my laptop was running faster, but I did not observe any improvement in its performance or battery life over the trial period.
Cons
Basically a waste of time when you are using it - Eminently frustrating when you want to get rid of it!!
Constant reminders (about hourly) coupled with an incessant pop-up on the desktop (which reappears instantaneously after you close it) will drive you nuts.
Trying to uninstall the thing turned out to be a massive nightmare!! I'm on my fourth 3rd party uninstaller in an attempt to get this garbage off my computer at the moment. I have wasted an inordinate amount of time trying to expel this program from my life!!!Summary
Obviously, this was a money earner for CNET, but it is an impossible hassle for users.
I appreciate that you need to make money by reviewing ordinary software sometimes, but this really is malware and it is not appropriate to endorse it. -
"Decent, no major issues"
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
It did what it said. Cleaned up my laptop nicely. Had an issue where the boot process was hanging badly. After running TuneUp Utilities once, the hang ups were gone, everything ran much faster.
Cons
One day trial? And not worth dropping $50 on.
Summary
I had zero problems uninstalling this piece of software (took all of maybe 3 minutes). The reminders to purchase the full version were getting annoying. I should note, however, I downloaded TuneUp directly from their site, not through CNET.

"4 Hours worth of work."
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
lol....implications......there are none
Cons
Like many of your members, CNET, my brother was lured into the false assumption that this program actually protected any computer from viruses. Not only did it just sit there half the time, it constantly alerted that we hadn't bought the full version, and no matter what we tried found it impossible to uninstall it. 4 hours. 4 miserable painstaking hours looking through countless registry entries. I'm not even mad, I'm disappointed really. What happened to you guys? A few years ago you wouldn't even think of putting garbage like this unto this website, and to give it a 5 star ranking, and a bogus review? Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Malwarebytes in safe mode, along with Kaskerpy with updated virus logs should get rid of it. Please take this program down. DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE IT IS MALWARE UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH COMPUTERS AND REGISTRY ENTRIES DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS!Summary
I wonder how much they paid you to give this a full review? I also wonder how long it took you to get rid of the application.
If everyone up-votes the comments about this program being malware, and reports the 5 star comments as spam/malware, then they wil have to do something.
Please remove this. IT IS MALWARE. It does not belong here.

"none. Having to give 1 star is wrong. I give it zero."
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
No benefits at all and MANY MANY dangerous hazards. Stay clear of this c**p; please please stay clear.
Cons
None. Having to give 1 star is wrong. I give it zero. If you value your computer and your sanity please, please give this one a miss.
Until now although I sometimes disagreed with CNET I did trust their integrity but now I distrust them totally. Either their testing was non existant, or they value their rake off more than they value their members. -
"I used to trust you CNET."
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
I dont see any pros.
Cons
How am I gonna uninstall this now?!
-
"Does what it says"
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
Installed it on my desktop and lappy, startup time on the desktop improved around 50% Didn't see the same improvement with the lap top but its a new machine. It came up with options for security and speed I would not probably thought of
Cons
None yet, $50 is probably too much to pay.
Summary
No problems

"Excellent utility program for new users."
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
An excellent utility program, if you do not have an earlier version. Do the tweaks in this version worth the cost of upgrading to the new program; I'm not completely convinced.
Cons
Cost of upgrading:

"Will not uninstall"
Version: TuneUp Utilities 2012 12.0.3010.5
Pros
None, Nadda, Zip!
Cons
I can not get this to uninstall. When I try to, the program asks do I want to uninstall yes or no. Clicking on yes results in nothing happening. Clicking now shuts down the uninstall.
Try to stop the process in the task manager? It restarts automatically.Summary
I wish I had read some of the reviews before I tried this out. I thought I could trust cnet not to allow software like this on their site.
