    "Pure Evil...DO NOT INSTALL THIS!!!"

    November 1, 2013  |   By witchwaydiddygo

    Pros

None...except that Tube Dimmer is evidence that c|net is NOT properly screening programs before unleashing them upon their users...

    Cons

Seemingly impossible to remove...was asked to remove a load of malware which someone had been tricked into installing to view a phony email photo attachment (attachment had a clickable link to a malware download embedded in it)...most of the installed hijackers, adware, toolbars, etc. I was able to get via Malwarebytes, SuperAntispyware, etc. -- but not Tube Dimmer...very little help available on Net to destroy it, as it seems to be a new type of evil...it is gone from Add/remove Programs but starts up every reboot...and will not shut down

    Summary

Tube Dimmer (or some unseen malware manager) seems to add UNSTOPPABLE processes to Windows which hijack your web browser(s) and redirect you to phishing websites, junk advertising webpages, who knows what else...evil, evil, evil...I even tried a Malwarebytes Full System Scan in Windows XP Safe Mode...tried Kaspersky's TDSS rootkit killer...no luck

Spent many hours chasing this malware around. It doesn't uninstall as quoted from their web site. It was called scorpion in programs and features, and would not let me remove it because of some key. From there I went to the registry and removed all of tube dimmer and scorpion, to no avail. Spybot nor malwarebytes didn't remove it. I finally found it as a updater under windows and deleted its MSI under temp. Gone
