    "Great brief play!"

    June 26, 2011   |   By fujitsulover

Version: True Crime: Streets of L.A. 1.0

    Pros

The laptop version is exactly like the XBOX version!

    Cons

You have to use the keyboard/mouse to control instead of the controller/joystick.

    Summary

I have this game for the XBOX. After sampling the XBOX version, I downloaded the PC mode version for the MacBook Pro. It is exactly like the XBOX except for the controls. I personally like the PC version better. Lucky for me, I just put away the XBOX version and keep the PC version. It is fun. Had my XBOX True Crime: Streets of L.A. disc not have been scratched and ruined, I would never have known that the other version. You may be surprised by the good that you have. When you think your favorite is gone, another door opens up that gives you even better joy! Always appreciate what you have.

"many major bugs, bad handling: Don't buy!"

Version: True Crime: Streets of L.A. 1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'm trying to play True Crime (Mac) for quite a while and I have to warn you:
1st: The Main-Enemy in the whole game are the controls. They are buggy, complex, slow reacting and sometimes that unprecise, that you can't win a stage till you find out, how to make your way around the controls or that special situation. Annoying.
2nd: The camera-system does not work well. The game features a gaming-console typical automatic camera system depending on where your player is standing and in which direction he's moving. Also your position to the object your trying to reach is important. If you use such a unprecise camera-system with minimal control-options for the gamer, it has to be perfect tested in every stage to prevent that annoying "I can't see whats on" "where is he" game experience. This happens in the main-stages!!! Often!!! Was there no game testing or what?
This two things are kicking the fun out of the game. You constantly experience "I haven't done that" or "but I shot first...! or "where is it gone?" situations that are really annoying.
Last to mention is that the game crashes OFTEN, I mean REALLY often, about 2 times per hour.
This Mac-Port is really POOR WORK. The old "Don't spent any money for the mac-port"-thing, I guess?
I recomend that you think twice if you buy this game. It is an unpleasant experience. I'm really disapointed and scratched it from my HD.
