    November 18, 2011  |   By PSUZiggy

    Version: TripleA 1.3.2.2

    Pros

    Active Forums/Community
Lots of Players and various options/strats
Veteran players are apt to teach new players
Pleasant game that is easy to learn, yet hard to master.
    It's Free!
    Constant updates and development!

    Cons

Graphics are not top of the line, but are great for java.
Sometimes bugs are found, but these are often resolved via updates.

    Summary

It's a game I will often replay... yet I didn't pay a dime. Talk about value.

    "Simply Awesome"

    August 18, 2011  |   By comradekev

    Version: TripleA 1.3.2.2

    Pros

    Active player community and forums
Hundreds of online maps - great graphics
    Continuous enhancement and improvement
    Responsive developers

    Cons

It's too bad the mega-corps like Hasbro feel the need to meddle in open source, fan-based projects. Where the megas can't - the people can. This far outclasses any for-profit games released by the megas.

"The best open source battle map game out there."

    June 10, 2010  |   By aairborne52

    Version: TripleA 1.2.5.4

    Pros

TripleA has many game modes to play in. One being the ability to play others across the world. The variety of maps will fit to anyone playing. There's tough ones for veterans to the series, and easier ones for the beginners. The community is moving!

    Cons

Many people I've talked to found it a little difficult to host a game because you have to portforward. TripleA does however have documentation to show you how.

    Summary

When you join the TripleA community free of charge, you enter into a friendly community that will happily help you in need and will gladdy take suggestions for the next release. Because all people who play TripleA are also all developers, the game evolves to your liking. The community is small enough to get things done, but large enough to also find help and someone to play with. Let's say you like a map, but you want to change the rules or the units...you can! Everything is open source and easy to edit. So overall, go try this game. If you don't like it so what. It was free. But if you do like it, enjoy.

    "Amazing game"

    May 10, 2010  |   By TripleAdevelopers

    Version: TripleA 1.2.5.4

    Pros

Best if you know how to play Risk, or Axis and Allies, or other similar war games, turn based games, dice games, or strategy games.
Has a great community of players.
Very flexible, offers many maps, not just conquer the world types.

    Cons

No tutorial, so you need to understand similar board games and turn based strategy games before you can pick this one up.
Games can take a while, this isn't some flash game.
Not for the feint of heart.

    Summary

Definitely worth trying. Requires Java to work. Probably should be under the "Strategy games -> Turn Based Games" rather than under board games, as this is nothing like checkers, and much more like Risk and other turn based strategy games.
If you have Linux or other operating systems, they are supported, visit this website to get versions for other OS:
