"Save your money."
"Save your money."
Pros
Can't think of any.
Cons
No longer compatible wit YouTube video. No correction in future according to Trendy.
Unresponsive service.
Photos for galleries must be square perspective.
Limited page depths.
I simply cannot recommend this software.
Summary
I used this to build a site for a client. The "HTML" option is past weak. Just not worth the money.
"Aaauugh! Brain aneurism!"
"Aaauugh! Brain aneurism!"
Pros
Glitzy.
Very glitzy.
Very+ glitzy.
Ease to put together a website with negligible content. (IOW, the neophyte or the very *unserious" web designer.)
Web store with "product options"
Cons
Customer service: zip.
Stability: below par.
Company viability: slipping (my webhost can't get help either)
Developer-visible bugs: lots.
Viewer-visible bugs: lots.
- labels forgotten
- photos don't load
- scroll windows (for photos) don't work
- can't load custom background
- thin - only allows two(/three) layers of pages.
- can't rename "websites"
- can't delete "websites"
- switching between templates can (will likely) lose all your previous work
- tied to one server -- period. If your webhost needs to move you, you lose *everything*!
- can't rename photos
- can't upload more than 2 2Mpixel files at a time
- does not properly resize images (stretches them).
- mouse clicking in a edit box does not work.
Summary
Man-oh-man! This is the biggest sham I've seen since Windows 3.0! Lots of neat-looking templates, but some don't even pull up correctly. I'm using 1.1.0, and when I finally reached a rep, he told me to go to their website (skipping my webhost!!) and sign up for their latest version. 1.1.0 *is* their latest version!
Here are some work-arounds for the defects I've found:
- Forgets label changes. If you change a label on the screen, sometimes it replaces the change with "unknown" or something. Work-around: create a "scratch" label and change it *after* changing the one you want. The system will blip the scratch label and keep your original.
- Does not know "JPG". Work-around: You need to change all "*.JPG" to "*.jpg"
- Does not display photos. Work-around: 1) reload photos, 2) resize photos, 3) use a different *jpg editor (I'm serious!!), 4) resample photo, 5) use one of their stock images.
- Does not allow custom backgrounds. Workaround: none.
- Photo selector's scrollbar wigs out. If you have around 20+ photos, the photo selector window's scrollbar will make paging impossible. Work-around: timing! As the photos load, grab the scrollbar and move it to place you want. This *sometimes* works. Customers (!) see this as well on their store. I found that some templates work better than others. (The really nice-looking ones never work correctly.)
- Only two layers of windows. You can have 10 windows on your "home" page (page 2), and you can have 10 sub windows, a total of 110 windows. But how many people think in two layers? Work-around: create multiple "websites" and link them manually.
- Rename/delete website. Work-around: none (or have you webhost move you!)
- Rename photo. Work-around: delete and re-upload.
- Multiple 2Mpixel photo uploads. Work-around: resize to 1MPixel (1024x1024). Yes, I mean square!
- Photo stretch. Work-around: clip photo to a square. (In some instances this doesn't work either!)
- Product options are text only and can't create link to external selector. Work-around: none.
It appears that a college student wrote this as a personal project, and no one wants to face the hell of trying to fix it. I predict that this product will die a painful (for those that use it) sadistic death.

"WOW! You are correct! No way! Impossible!"
Pros
Eye catcher for sure...no questions about that. Good turnaround from the designs. I do use it and the customers who do not complain about the limitations like, not being able to change some of the fonts, do love it.
Cons
Errors and bugs everywhere! Some fonts do not load. The logo image goes in and out. They need a forum for server setup and end-users. Phone support for hosting companies.
Summary
I haven't written a review in years. I'm trying to trouble shoot a font error right now and found this post. The sweat, tears, hours, trouble shooting and playing email tag... After finally configuring with no help from Trendy Site, I began to market the product. Errors and bugs everywhere! Some fonts do not load. The logo image goes in and out. They need a forum for server setup and end-users. Phone support for hosting companies. It so crappy, they sell it for $$$ and I give it away for $20 a year hosting! Hell, I'm a hosting company and I have a license to sell it! And I'm going to sell it for stupid cheap. Buy some aspirins with the money saved. 405HaveGun.com BANG! BANG!

"Very rude customer service, too many bugs, no training"
"Very rude customer service, too many bugs, no training"
Pros
Some of the designs are quite cool
Cons
Too many tech issues with software, some publish buttons don't work. The customer chat people have a very bad attitude and obviously don't like helping people. They refer you back to support who then refer you back to chat, very annoying. They are abrupt and rude. There's no instructions or training, you're flying blind, and I've built well over 145 sites.

"Trendy Flash Falls Short"
"Trendy Flash Falls Short"
Pros
Easy to Use, Great Design, Excellent Price
Cons
Cant Install Analytics, Cant Drive Traffic, No internal linking, poor customer services
Summary
If you want a beautiful site with a WOW Factor then Trendy Flash is Perfect! However, for anyone that knows anything about development, Looking pretty is just the beginning. You have to get people there first.
The Meta Tags are Buggy!
There is no way to add google analytics or install flashgator to track website traffic or performance.
Also, there is no way to create internal links or even find out what they are, so you can drive traffic to specific Frames(pages) of your Flash Site. This is terrible for anyone trying to do business on the web. You can not direct traffic.
Customer services sucks. Sat for 5 mins on live Chat waiting for someone to respond. Bruce C. the operater responded and didnt really know much about anything. Moreover, his answers were basically, "No you cant do that"...without any options as to workarounds. When asked about the limitations, he decided to say "Bye" and ended the Chat Session.
Great looking site with potential if you dont expect to do anything with it. 2 stars at the most. Take 1 back for poor service!
"Cumbersome Program - Rude Non Responsive Tech Support"
"Cumbersome Program - Rude Non Responsive Tech Support"
Pros
It has a cool splash page program, and the potential of being a premium program. Unfortunately it ends at the Splash Page!
Cons
Terrible Instructions, Very Limited Page Design, Cant get pics to load correctly ...without call their very rude unresponsive Tech Support! Actually suspended my site, because I canceled auto renew. With 9 months left on the subscription (paid)!
Summary
Please save your money! Even if it were free, I have wasted countless hours trying unsuccesfully to create the type of website that their advertising promises. If you really look into the actual sites created by this program you will see how utterly subpar this program actually is! Tech Support has same response over and over (I do not believe he actually understands english as it takes 10 to 15 minutes for each response) TOO Expensive for what you get. Many problems, and every time I try to do something with one of my pages, I struggle with it for 20 minutes, contact tech support for and hour, and usually give up trying to do anything! They Advertise ALOT OF GREAT THINGS...they do NOT DELIVER WHAT THEY ADVERTISE. PLEASE DON'T EVEN DOWNLOAD A TRIAL VERSION!
"Will not renew subscription next year."
"Will not renew subscription next year."
Pros
Has a handfull of FLASH templates that look cool.
Cons
Templates are very strick. Cant add images to a page unless it is in the template. Has an online chat for problems, but they are far from customer service. Very cranky and will not address the actual problem. Re-publish is the stock answer.
Summary
I thought I would give Trendy Site Builder a try after seeing an advertisement. I had a small web site I needed to put together quick with only a few pages. I regret ever using it... and will not be using it in the future. I have used all sorts of site building CMS and enjoy trying to find new options, but this was a mistake all around. Really dislike the customer service. They have been nothing but rude, and I am a professional web developer. I would hate to see what they are like with a beginner.
"TEMPLATES ARE MINIMAL, GENERIC & VERY ADOLESCENT"
"TEMPLATES ARE MINIMAL, GENERIC & VERY ADOLESCENT"
Pros
Super easy program with very limited features and design options. The program has a lot of potential. It could be fabulous. But its limited options and few template choices make it a waste of money.
Cons
The trial version gives you 2 templates and when you purchse the full version you get 18 more. WOW ! Plus the templates look like they were made for and by teenagers. Not good enough for any professional business. What a shame !
Summary
You have the option of purchasing an additional 50 generic and juvenile templates for $79.00. So you'll have more options not to choose from. Also, there is only one font, which only adds to the generic look of potential websites.
BOTTOM LINE: The program has a lot of potential but its limited options and few template choices make it a waste of money.
